If you love a good plait as much as us, you'll be excited to know that the humble braid has been going through a bit of a reinvention recently, thanks to some of our favourite stars and certain Instagram trends.
Move over classic plaits, a new generation of unique and bold styles are taking celebrities - along with Instagram users - by storm. Here are a few of our favourite new creative ways to wear braids:
Several months ago, actress Nina Dobrev's hairstylist Riawna Capri (whose hair is the absolute dream) sent her off to an event in LA rocking a 'unicorn braid'. Essentially a voluminous braid on the top of the head, the unicorn braid keeps the parts (the pieces of hair leading up to the main braid) sleek and clean and the plait itself full of volume. The style has since gone viral on Instagram, just take a look here:

Celebrities have also been loving this style, with Gigi Hadid trying it out and Chiara Ferragni rocking a more subtle version:
In order to recreate the look, apply lots of volume-boosting powder, take two parts of hair directly above the eyes, and plait them together at the top of your head, keeping the volume.
Yes ok, so the halo style has been round for a while - but the modern way to wear it is either in a bold, oversized style, like Lily and Jessica, or more subtly on the side, like Maria.
In the past few months, the braided bun has been making the round at awards ceremonies... and we LOVE it. Rooney Mara is the biggest champion of the new style.
