There were a few celebs we were downright shocked not to see at this year’s Met Gala. While Blake Lively, Taylor Swift, and Rihanna were dearly missed, Millie Bobby Brown was another fave we were hoping would make her Met steps debut.
This was especially disappointing as the Stranger Things actor was seen in New York City in April, sparking some speculation that she might have attended the event held on the first Monday in May.
Yet, it was not to be – and we’re not the only people disappointed by her lack of appearance.
“It still blows my mind that Millie Bobby Brown has never been to the Met Gala,” one X (formerly Twitter) user wrote.
“Wdym Millie Bobby Brown still hasn't been to a Met Gala,” another said.
There is a very respectable reason for her absence, however. Elle reports that Millie is currently away from NYC as she is filming the final season of Stranger Things (which is also likely why we didn’t see Finn Wolfhard or any of the other members of the cast on the green carpet!).
The fifth and final season of Stranger Things started production earlier this year after last year’s writers and actors strikes delayed production. While it is not known when exactly the fifth season will drop on Netflix, season four dropped in two parts so we could expect season five to do the same.

“Seven years ago, we planned out the complete story arc for Stranger Things,” show creators the Duffer brothers said in 2022. “At the time, we predicted the story would last four to five seasons. It proved too large to tell in four but — as you’ll see for yourselves — we are now hurtling toward our finale.”
With the show finishing, this may mean that Millie Bobby Brown’s schedule frees up a little for this time next year. So, should we expect to see her on the Met steps in 2025? Only time will tell, but we’ll keep our fingers crossed.
