Things just got really serious on MAFS Australia. And, like… not in a fun way.
In tonight's episode of the reality dating show, we're about to see a dark storyline. It was teased in last night's promo. In the teaser, Paul was seen confessing… something… at the next dinner party, while expert John Aiken said ominously, “This is very serious.”
Ok, so what happened? Luckily, the series has already aired over in Australia, so we have the answers you're after. Spoilers ahead, obviously.
What did Paul do? Well, he got angry and punched a hole in the wall. Honestly? Kind of terrifying.
Here's how it's all going to play out in the next few episodes:
Carina recounts the story: In Episode 20, Carina recounts how it all happened. Apparently, she and Paul, along with Rhi and Jeff, another couple on the experiment, went out for a day at the beach. In the Uber home, Carina made a passing comment about how she had once hooked up with the rapper whose song was playing. When they got home, she realised that Paul was upset by her comment. She apologised and tried to give him a cuddle. Things escalated quickly and Paul ended up punching a hole in the wall. They spent the night in separate apartments.
Paul apologises to Carina: In the same episode, we see a tearful Paul apologising to Carina for his actions. Carina told the production team that she wasn't scared of Paul.
Paul owns up to his mistake at the next dinner party: Paul owned up to his actions at the next dinner party. “I did something that I absolutely regret, something that is absolutely unacceptable. I lost control and I punched a hole in the bedroom door... it's disgusting and I'm still hating myself for doing this,” Paul said to his fellow contestants.
Paul speaks to the experts at the next commitment ceremony: The experts took the incident very seriously. “Just to be clear, this is toxic, inappropriate and unacceptable behaviour,” John said, "that you must see now." He added, “Frankly, I don't feel very good about this.” They warned Paul that he was "on notice" and "any type of violent behaviour, you're out."
The incident was reported to the police: The production team did report the incident to the NSW police. “The matter has been referred to officers from South Sydney Police Area Command, who have commenced an investigation. As the investigation is current, police will not be making any further comment in relation to the matter,” per Capital FM.
The production company makes a statement: “Our first priority at all times has been the wellbeing and safety of the participants and after extensive consultation with Carina, she wanted to remain in the experiment with Paul. We continue to provide support for Carina and Paul,” they stated.
