If you can expect anything from Lupita Nyong'o on the red carpet, it's a hair moment. That and a great gown, both of which she delivered at the 2022 Oscars. We can talk about the dress first: The actor, who herself nabbed an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress in 2014, turned out looking like a literal prize in a gown laden with golden sequins. Tiny beads were arranged into what looked like pink flowers, but the scene-stealer was the plunging open back.

On to the hair: Nyong'o and her go-to stylist Vernon François routinely serve up hair looks that quite frankly, look more like works of art than mere hairstyles. This time, François created an updo made of locs, but of course, he didn't stop there. If you take a look at the beehive-esque bun piled atop Nyong'o's crown, you'll see that François arranged a few of the locs in what looks like a fishtail braid.
An even closer look at the updo reveals the gorgeous spirals that make up the giant bun. It's incredibly detailed and not to mention, gorgeous.
Nyong'o's longtime makeup artist Nick Barose played off of the gown's tones and applied some gold leaf to her lids along with Lancôme Idole liquid liner. On her lips, he swiped the brand's L'Absolu Rouge lipstick in Mademoiselle Lupita, which suits her perfectly — almost as if it was made for her (wink, wink).
Nyong'o isn't up for any awards tonight — she'll be presenting one instead, but if you ask us, she definitely looks like a winner.
