The Hollywood starlet plays the role of Karen, a secretary to two Hollywood producers, and she turns out to be much smarter than she first appears. She told Time Out magazine that she could identify with the character: "My character gets a taste of the Hollywood life, and I think this happens in LA a lot: people get hooked on the adrenaline that comes with making movies and get out of their depth."

Lindsay told the magazine: "I'm at a point when I want a diligent routine and I really want to get back into work. And I wanted to do something different: people have certain perceptions of me and I wanted to change them by doing something like a Mamet play. I'm hoping it'll take away attention from me as a celebrity name and draw attention to the fact that I'm an actress."

But was she any good? Press night isn't until next week, but according to a review from The Daily Beast, Lindsay forgot some of her lines. The website wrote: "On the first night of previews, a work-in-progress feel is to be expected. But halfway through the second act of Speed-the-Plow, the audience was openly laughing at Lohan's struggle to grasp Mamet's sharp, trademark dialogue," Nico Hines writes, but also added later that "Lohan remained charming throughout."

Woah! Is Mean Girls coming to the West End? Unfortunately, not. But Lindsay Lohan is!

The 27-year-old actress has been in London for several weeks and has now revealed she is in the city to prepare for a potential appearance in stage production Speed-the-Plow, a venture she is both "nervous" and "excited" about.

She told the New York Times: "It's the first time I've done a stage play or anything like that. I'm nervous but I'm excited."

The production is a satirical take on the dreams and strategies of Hollywood executives and will reportedly open in November.

Interestingly, when Speed-the-Plow featured on Broadway in 1998, it was Madonna who played the lead role.

It was revealed earlier this week that Lindsay Lohan - who has been changing hotels in London every three weeks - is house-hunting in the city as she wants to find a more permanent base.

Is she staying in London for a guy, though? Rumour has it Li-Lo is dating TOWIE star Tom Kilbey - who used to date Lydia Bright.
