At this point, it's basically a tradition for Lily Collins to show off a new look at the premiere of each new season of Emily in Paris. For season 4 part 1, it was a fresh bob. And with the arrival of the second part of the fourth installment of the season, the actress has done it again. But while everyone is focusing on her chic '20s hair, we can't stop looking at something else: a manicure that really is the epitome of demure. And yes, it's versatile enough to go perfectly with a sexy black Dior ensemble and a glimmering golden Schiaparelli dress.

So, what's the formula for the ultimate demure mani?

  1. Length: Nails aren't too short – say, a couple of millimetres longer than the shortest length possible.
  2. Shape: Slightly rounded, naturally.
  3. Colour: A nude — practically the same shade as your natural nail.
  4. Finish: Very shiny, very polished, very demure.
  5. Style: What we're going for here is absolute natural-ness. We want an elegant, discreet manicure that is one hundred percent adaptable to any occasion. The colour works in the daytime and the shine isn't too shiny (hey, we're giving specifics here).

If you're after a very demure Lily Collins manicure, the number one tip is to avoid very bold or highly-pigmented tones. Nudes and simple pinks are your allies, as long as they have that natural sheeny finish.

Another tip is to go for a simple single coat of polish, leaving the nail almost transparent.
