Lily's high-rise ponytail style means one thing and one thing only; it's time to dig out that ponytail cone clip. The ultimate late-90s accessory (although I can't confirm the trend ever left the school grounds of Basingstoke - GLAMOUR wasn't about in those days), the conical plastic grip made the high ponytail even higher, meaning bonus style points.
And Lily's not the only one bringing back this super-sized ponytail trend. First in line was Selena Gomez, who not only wore a super-high pony, she even rocked a super-sized scrunchie. Well-played, Gomez.
And then Nicole Richie got in on the high-rise action with this braided style. Although she shunned both the retro scrunchie and the oh-so-cool ponytail cone. Disappointing.
So what does this mean for you and I? Option one: dig out that ponytail cone, (at this point I feel obliged to point out that this isn't its official name. I don't remember its official name,) and start wearing it again. Option two: invest in a new ponytail cone (yes, you really can still buy them - in America). Option three: continue life as you were and pretend this never happened.
But even if you opt for option three (shame) let's take a moment to enjoy one of the origins of the trend...
