Way to go Lady Gaga! The singer braved the freezing waters of Chicago's Lake Michigan to raise money for charity at the weekend. The 28-year-old jumped on the shoulders of her fiancé, Chicago Fire actor Taylor Kinney and took part in the Polar Plunge event and it sure looked COLD.

Hollywood actor Vince Vaughn was also one of the 4,500 people taking part in the annual event in aid of the Special Olympics.

Lady Gaga chose not to dress up as a mermaid (is it wrong that we could totally imagine that?) and instead went for a practical ensemble consisting of a black T-shirt and leggings.

She emerged from the water with ice stuck to her hair, but she couldn't resist a little kiss from her man. She later shared a photo from the outing on Instagram and wrote: "Feels so good to do things for a good cause like the Special Olympics. It's great donate money, but also great to donate a gesture of love for those who deserve to be showered with it."

Special Olympics Chicago President Casey Hogan said the singer's appearance was "a very nice surprise".

Organisers say this year's event has raised more than $1m (£650,000), with the proceeds going towards providing year-round activities for athletes with special needs.
