Kate Winslet will direct her first movie, Goodbye June, which tells a story of ‘fractured siblings’

Kate Winslet is set to step behind the camera in her directorial debut, Goodbye June, which will premiere on Netflix and explore a story of “fractured siblings”.

After producing and starring in an amazing biopic of war photographer Lee Miller's life last year, Kate will take the next step and direct. It's an amazing development, with huge stars such as Helen Mirren and Toni Collette joining the cast, and Kate starring in the film herself as well.

The actor plays incredible real-life war photographer Lee Miller.

She opened up previously on Elizabeth Day's How To Fail podcast about others in the industry encouraging her to direct, and how ultimately how it could “change the culture” of a male-dominated Hollywood if she did.

"So many people will say to me on film sets ‘why aren’t you directing?’ and I’ll go ‘no, no, no, please don’t say it. Stop saying it. Why does everyone keep saying it?’," Kate said.

“People say it to me often and I know why I haven’t done it: because it’s a very long time, and it’s a huge commitment, and I have always had a family. I had Mia when I was 25 years old and so there’s just no way I would have ever been able to do it.
