Kate Beckinsale and Len Wiseman are heading for the divorce courts after 12 years of marriage, having apparently been living separately for almost a year.
Wiseman has filed for divorce, citing "irreconcilable differences". Neither party is looking for spousal support, and both have been seen out without wedding rings since last November.
Beckinsale has a 17-year-old daughter with the actor Michael Sheen, whom she dated for eight years before meeting Wiseman on the set of Underworld in 2003 and marrying him the following year.
Wiseman directed her in further Underworld films and a remake of Total Recall.
In 2012, Beckinsale joked on The Tonight Show that, due to how often they filmed together, they kept their arguments private by texting instead.
"You'd be amazed how fast you can type 'douchebag,'" she said.
