After bingeing the gripping first season a little too quickly, we all want to know: will there be a Joan season 2?

The first season of the ITV series saw Sophie Turner taking on the role of a glamorous jewellery thief in 1980s London. From the stunning costumes to the breakneck pace of the plot to the riveting portrayal of a complicated heroine, there was a lot to love about Joan. No wonder fans want more!

Here's everything we know about a potential second season so far.

What happened in Joan season 1?

Season 1 of ITV's Joan followed the story of the infamous real-life jewellery thief, Joan Harrington, who became notorious for swallowing and stealing millions of pounds of jewels in 1980s London. Sophie Turner played the glamorous criminal, taking us on the journey from Joan's troubled first marriage to her criminal escapades to her eventual downfall.

What might happen in Joan season 2?

Joan is based on a real-life jewel thief, so it would make sense if season 2 continued to trace Joan's real life. On the other hand, the final episode of season 1 strayed a little from the true story. In real life, Boisie died in a fire during a botched insurance fraud plot and Joan decided to give up her life of crime. Instead of turning herself into the police, as she does in the show, she opened her own insurance business.

The show ends of a slightly more dramatic note, with Boisie dying in a dramatic shoot-out and Joan (almost) kidnapping her daughter from foster care. The ending of the first season of Joan certainly left us with plenty of questions that would need to be answered in season 2. Will Joan re-enter her life of crime? Will she ever get her daughter back? What was with that ominous parting line from Albie?

Is Joan season 2 confirmed?

We'll have to wait a little while longer to see if we'll ever get any answers to these questions, because ITV still hasn't confirmed whether or not Joan will be renewed for a second season. So, fingers crossed, and stay tuned!
