Jen Atkin - hairstylist to the Kardashian girls, Chrissy Tiegan and Jenna Dewan (to name a few), owner of haircare brand Ouai and Instagram Queen (she's got over a million followers) - is one busy lady, but that didn't stop her from designing a range of hair extensions for Beauty Works. We went to meet the talented stylist to ask her about her top hair tips, Oscars beauty and what the Kardashian girls are really like.
The lob, obviously - the lob is really really popular. But I know everyone will be stressing when lobs are out - so I recommend taking a hair supplement so your hair can grow quickly! Another trend I think is just playing around with your hair. I'm really lucky to work with Kylie Jenner & Khloe Kardashian as they are both great strong examples of really playing with different personalities - I know we do it with makeup and with wardrobe but I think you can really do it with your hair too.
I loved the finger waves at Marc Jacobs - I thought they were so beautiful. I loved the bouffants at Jeremy Scott, too.
Yes, they are - they're especially nice for spring. I actually did the double braids on Kim Kardashian on Christmas eve. I feel like there's this great phenomenon of the double braids and extensions are great for this - if you don't have the length you can just clip them in and experiment.
I thought Jessica Alba looked amazing - it was like Bianca Jagger but a little more modern. I love Chrissy Teigen - her plait looked so beautiful.
She's another star who loves extensions - she's very open about it. Speaking of braids actually, we just did for an event this really long reverse french braid on Chrissy. She's really fun and she's the type of girl who goes through phases. Sometimes she goes for medium length, sometimes she wants long length.

Khloe [Kardashian] and Kylie [Jenner]! I'm always texting Kylie asking "what's the plan next?" It's so fun with her. I love that she's giving girls the confidence to really play with their looks. It's just one of the most fun parts of being a girl - being a girl can be hard but just embracing new looks and trying new things out and finding what you like... I think it's really fun. Who knows what she will go for next! We've been talking about having a really cool fringe moment.
I can't pick one! My top three are Beyonce and Khloe [Kardashian]. But then there are people like Bianca Jagger and Jerry Hall - the disco 70s. It's fun to look at women when they actually had time to get their hair all done and styled. I look at women in the 60s and 70s and just love it. I think Brigette Bardot was one of the first to really do 'undone' kind of hair. I love Kate Moss' hair, too. I always joke that I spend so much time to do hair that looks like it hasn't been done at all!

The Beauty Works tape-ins - there's no damage to hair then and it adds volume. Do a blunt cut then edge it out - cut into it so you have movement at the ends.
The number one thing is to invest in yourself and invest in your kit. This goes further than just products - I was always really adamant about buying and using hair extensions. If you're doing a job and you put hair in and the girl looks even better in pictures, you're going to get hired again. They just want the picture to look amazing - so it's really important to have that great kit.
