Company-wide email: Season five of Industry has just been confirmed. HBO has renewed Industry for a fifth and final season.
The news comes as little surprise, as the show has been the talk of the town. Industry, produced by Bad Wolf, has seen season four average around 1.7 million viewers per episode so far — a 30% improvement on season three.
Things get more morally dubious than ever.

Showrunners Mickey Down and Konrad Kay have spoken out in a Deadline interview about their plans so far for season 5, and they've apparently got it all mapped out.
“Season 5 is just great, because we know what the end is. We know the final images of all the characters,” Konrad has said. "We had a 12-week room over the course of the new year, just now. So we know what we’re writing towards. It’s been very fun to just think about what the final eight hours are going to say about these characters.
“Me and Mick, we’re obviously very diagnostic about our own work and like, not to immediately, sort of, as Mickey says, course correct season 4, but we’re kind of quite excited about maybe stepping our foot back off the plot mechanics a little bit and going for something that’s just a little bit more character-focused and a little bit more interior, especially because trying to really be underneath the hood of the characters for the final eight hours, I think, is basically going to be our mantra.”
In season four, Harper (Myha’la) and Yasmin (Marisa Abela) were drawn into a high-stakes, globetrotting cat-and-mouse game when a splashy fintech darling bursts onto the London scene. As Yasmin navigated her relationship with tech founder Sir Henry Muck (Kit Harington) and Harper was pulled into the orbit of enigmatic executive Whitney Halberstram (Max Minghella), their complicated friendship continued to warp and intensify under the pressure of money, power, and ambition.
The finale episode (which aired on Wednesday, 25 February) saw quite a lot of controversial plotlines, including Yasmin's hosting of events for neo-Nazis and blackmailing men after filming them sleeping with underage girls. Some have suggested these storylines have been “ripped from the headlines” of the real world, particularly allegations made in the Epstein files.
The way things shook out by the end of the season made many fans predict that season 5 will see the continued reign of Industry leading ladies Harper Stern (Myha'la) and Yasmin Kara-Hanani (Marisa Abela).
Will season five be the final season of Industry?
Before you start drafting a petition, note that creators Mickey Down and Konrad Kay were the ones who decided to conclude Industry with season five, according to HBO’s official statement accompanying the renewal announcement.
BBC and HBO’s Skins-meets-Succession banking drama is back for season 4. Here, its stars Marisa Abela and Myha’la sit down with Glamour to discuss privilege, sex scenes, and being each other’s biggest cheerleaders.

“For four seasons, Industry has thrilled us while examining power, money, politics, and class. Under Mickey and Konrad’s ambitious and singular vision, it has solidified itself as an important contemporary, genre-bending drama in HBO’s lineup that keeps viewers on the edge of their seat week after week,” Francesca Orsi, HBO’s executive vice president of programming and the head of its drama series and films, said.
“It is gratifying that viewers and critics have recognised season four as bigger and more thrilling than ever, buoyed by career-defining performances from our magnificent cast. Alongside the amazing team under executive producer Jane Tranter at Bad Wolf and executive producer Kathleen McCaffrey at Little Gems, we are so proud we can announce the fifth season of this terrific show, which Mickey and Konrad have decided will take us to the end of Industry’s story.”
Down and Kay, the show’s creators, showrunners, writers, directors and executive producers, added, “We’re privileged to have joined the small, esteemed club of dramas that have run for five seasons on HBO.
"This March marks a decade since we first began to conceive of the world of Industry, and it exists because of the unwavering faith and vision of our partners and former partners at HBO — Casey, Frannie, Kara, Cela, Sam, Kathleen, and Max. Without Jane Tranter’s imagination and belief, the show would simply be a dead idea in a drawer somewhere. She — alongside her partners at Bad Wolf — has been our guiding light and fiercest champion. We’d also like to thank the BBC for their partnership.
“For some time now, we have been thinking about how best to end the show on an unparalleled high. Unlike some of our characters, we know when to leave a party,” they continued. “We’d like to thank our evangelical fan base, especially those who have watched from day one. Finally, we owe everything to our crew and the best cast on TV for making our writing live. The characters will live on because of their world-class performances. Seeing the HBO ident in front of our work will never stop being a thrill. It remains the best place to make television, and we look forward to continuing our collaboration well into the future.”
The show’s costume designer shares the inspirations behind the main characters’ looks and how they ushered in a fashionable chapter of the show.

When will Industry season five be released?
Slow your horses, we’ve got a while to wait. Season five has just been confirmed, but there’s no word yet on filming, let alone a release date. Reports have predicted that we may not see the final chapter until 2028, due to the seasons often having a two-year gap between release dates.
Season four arrived roughly a year and a half after season three, so a similar timeline is expected for season five. We'll keep you updated on all things season five of Industry.
