Ever wondered what happened to this little guy? The adorable monkey, exactly one year ago, wandered into our lives via an Ikea carpark in Toronto and someone's twitter feed.

Named Darwin, the 7-month-old Japanese macaque had been raised by his human "mum" Yasmin Nakhuda, who dressed him in clothes and took him everywhere with her.

But after he got lost in the Ikea car park escapade, he was rescued by Story Book Farm Primate Sanctuary in Sunderland, Ontario. Now, one year on, little Darwin is "learning to be a monkey again".

The Toronto Star reports that the "cheeky little guy" is enjoying playing on a swing, fire pole, slide and kiddie pool in his enclosure, although he still throws a lot of temper tantrums because he's used to being the centre of attention (dressed in a shearling coat like that, who could blame him?).

"When he came to us, he was lacking in confidence and unsure how to act around other monkeys," Izzy Hirji, chair of the sanctuary's board of directors said.

"Through being able to see and interact with the other guys, he's growing into a healthy, confident adolescent."

Sadly, due to a lawsuit in place by Darwin's former owner, he's not allowed to interact with other monkeys. But he's still managed to bond with a monkey girlfriend (through a mesh cage) called Sweetpea. Aw!
