If you only watch one thing today, make it this SNL skit which parodies the infamous cue card scene in Love Actually.

Reprising her role as Hillary Clinton, Kate McKinnon is seen knocking on the door of an Electoral College member - who plays Keira Knightley's part - with a bunch of cue cards. She proceeds to explain why she should not officially vote in Donald Trump at the upcoming electoral vote.

She begins with the following: "Hi, It's me, Hillary Rodham Clinton... Let me just say because it's Christmas, and at Christmas you tell the truth, I know you're an elector and on December 19th you're supposed to vote for Donald Trump ... But bish, he cray."

In one particularly hilarious moment, McKinnon holds up a card claiming the voter should remember that Trump will "kill us all".

The Electoral vote will happen later today, and 538 electors will meet. Originally just a formality, the Electoral vote was considered a compromise between those who originally wanted congress to decided on the President and those who wanted the popular vote to determine President.

The electors are made up of people chosen by their state's political parties - they can be state party leaders or even individuals with a personal connection to the Presidential candidate, like Bill Clinton. The electors do not have to vote for the candidate their state voted for, but usually do due to informal pledges or some certain state laws. If they vote against their state decision, they could be fined or even disqualified.
