The drama surrounding Don't Worry Darling continues, following an eventful premiere that generated more buzz than the film itself – rightly or wrongly.
Harry Styles – who stands at the centre of said drama – had something to say about one of the more ridiculous rumours and reports that came from Venice Film Festival, after fans became convinced that Styles had spat in Chris Pine's lap as he took a seat next to him at the the film's premiere.
During his gig at New York's Madison Square Garden on Wednesday (7 September), he addressed the situation with a tongue-in-cheek one-liner: “'It is wonderful, wonderful, wonderful to be back here – I just popped over to Venice to spit on Chris Pine but fear not, we’re back!'
Chris Pine's representative also weighed in on the issue, calling it “a complete fabrication and the result of an odd online illusion that is clearly deceiving and allows for foolish speculation".

"There is nothing but respect between these two men and any suggestion otherwise is a blatant attempt to create drama that simply does not exist."
Theories have since come to light that Harry Styles was merely pointing out that Pine's sunglasses were still sitting in his lap, that Pine was looking down at his phone, etc etc.
What do you think?
Fans took the conversation even further by pointing out that Harry became known as ‘the whale’ at his One Direction concerts for taking a gulp of water and then spitting it out at the crowd - a move he performed (and was criticised for) at his Las Vegas show in 2021 following the Covid-19 pandemic
One fan wrote on Twitter: “I love you dearly. But it’s Covid. Please stop taking a drink from water bottles then throwing it on people and doing the whale. That’s…an incredible amount of germs. I know most of us would let you spit in our mouths but just maybe retire it for this tour? No hate.”
The film has been a hotbed of drama with rumours that co-star Florence Pugh was apparently unhappy with the environment on set, Shia LaBeouf reinserting himself into the narrative, and Jason Sudeikis dropping in to serve custody papers in a very public manner.
At the centre of it all is Olivia Wilde, just trying to sell some movie tickets. If you have a good twenty minutes on your hands this morning, we highly recommend perusing our lengthy timeline of all the drama.
Harry Styles, Olivia Wilde, Jason Sudeikis, Florence Pugh, and Shia LaBeouf are all involved.
