Choosing the makeup for a red carpet appearance must be intense. It has to hold up to cameras, scrutiny and a night on the tiles. As for lipstick? That's the hardest of all. It can fade, smear and go patchy as the night wears on.
But one formula deemed worthy of an awards season moment, is Maybelline's Vinyl Ink lip colors, which LA makeup artist, Jenna Kristina, teased on her Instagram Stories while getting one of her celebrity clients ready for the event. “Choosing between these @maybelline #vinylink lip color for todays SAG Awards,” she wrote before letting followers guess from four colour swatches.
In the next slide she revealed she was working with White Lotus actress, Haley Lu Richardson on a high-shine Hollywood red lip. “Did you choose the correct shade?” she wrote.
In the picture, Jenna can be seen applying a precise layer of the Maybelline Vinyl Ink lipstick to create a classic look with a modern glossy finish.
And if you're wondering what shade it was, Jenna cheated a little since she revealed in the comments of her grid pic that she mixed two. “It’s two different shades of @maybelline vinyl ink lipstick in wicked and red hot in the center ❤️ [sic],” she replied to a follower who asked for deets.

The ultra-pigmented, statement lipstick was definitely the superstar of Haley's makeup look, but Jenna paired it with fresh subtly-sheeny skin, brushed-up, fluffy brows and some Lashify false lashes.
The good news if you want in on a red-carpet worthy lipstick, is that you can get it on the high street for £11.99. And the other-selling point? It's snog-proof, which Haley proved when she gave fellow White Lotus co-star (and fellow winner of Best Drama Series Ensemble), Meghann Fahy, a celebratory smooch. We love it when cast mates are real mates.
