VERY exciting news this afternoon: The Great British Bake Off is BACK! I guess that means all productivity is out of the window as all we'll be able to think about for months is cake.

The fifth series begins on Wednesday 6 August on BBC1, and the series will include the oldest and youngest contestants ever.

Youngest of all is 17-year-old Martha from Berkshire, who wants to be a food scientist when she's older - while 69-year-old Diana from Shropshire is the Bake Off's oldest baker so far.

Other participants include Enwezor, 39, who has only been baking for three years, 42-year-old Luis, who uses honey from his own bees to make cakes, and Jordan, 32, who is obsessed with creating the perfect cronut.

There's also Iain, 31, who likes travel-inspired baking, Chetna, 35, who combines Indian traditional recipes with British bakes, and Claire, 31, who takes cakes to slimming clubs. Her mother and grandmother were wedding cake decorators and her father was a chef - no fair!

Richard, 38, made his own wedding cake, while Norman, 66, hopes to revive traditional Scottish recipes.

Lastly we will meet 60-year-old Nancy from Lincolnshire, who was a GP practice manager and dog-trainer, and Katie, 41, who baked 15 Christmas cakes last year (woah!) and rarely uses recipes or weighs ingredients.

It looks like it's going to be another epic season - we can't wait till next week!
