Gigi Hadid is an absolute natural at her new presenting duties alongside Queer Eye's Tan France in season two of the competitive reality series Next In Fashion, which premiered on Netflix on 3 March.
Proving to be yet another binge-able watch from the streaming service, the show, which is back on our screens after being cancelled in 2020 following its first season, focuses on a bevvy of fashion designers competing to walk away with an eye-watering $200,000 prize as well as a debut collection on luxury fashion retailer site Net-a-Porter. And who better to host and judge the series than runway queen and fashion muse herself, Gigi!
After all, Gigi is one of the most famous models in the world, having modelled for the likes of Alberta Ferretti, Missoni, Chanel, and Versace, while also appearing on a staggering thirty-five Vogue covers across the world. Meanwhile, her co-host Tan has broken boundaries by offering his style expertise as one of the first openly gay South Asian men on a major show on western television. These two together have insane amounts of fashion wisdom that is obvious with their critique and celebration of the talented aspiring designers on the series, and we're totally here for it.
But, obviously, in today's day and age of social media, the focus hasn't been entirely on the fashion at hand but on various other factors, such as the (extremely innocent) bickering between sisters Gigi and Bella Hadid, who appeared on the show in episode five. Various TikTok accounts have shared clips of their pair's disagreement during a segment in which designers create looks centred on the Met Gala camp theme.
When contestant Amari emerged with a design made of bows, Bella gushed, "Amari, the top half, for me, was perfection. I love the way the neck is," Bella noted. She added: "The more I look at it, the ruching of the front of it—" before she was cut off by less-than-impressed sister Gigi: "But that's when it's standing still. You can't just make a look that just stands there." Speaking directly to her sister, Gigi continued: "You wouldn't wear it how it is." Bella immediately disagreed, with the pair going back and forth. “Now, you guys are seeing what I've been seeing for 25 years,” Bella cheekily added. Almost foreshadowing what the little disagreement would be turned into on social media, the siblings winked at each other, proving that their relationship was nothing less than solid. And, of course, a little disagreement between siblings is completely normal!
“I've always advocated for kindness and really want this all to stop.”

Also, with Hailey Bieber also appearing on one episode as a guest judge, TikTok was not happy as they continued their hate campaign against the Rhode Skin entrepreneur based on her supposed drama with Selena Gomez. Her appearance on the show has been branded “disgusting”, “underwhelming”, and “useless”, with the underlying question being: "Why tf was she there?” The social media backlash will honestly not give up, but luckily Gigi has stood by her friend and detailed why she should be there.
Speaking to ET Canada, she gushed: “Hailey has such great, chic taste in general, but I think that she likes to have fun and obviously has knowledge about style as a whole. She can be really girly some days, she can be really tomboy some days. She and Justin have such a great style conversation, even about how they dress together, so I think she not only has a really great eye not only for womenswear but menswear. She's also been around the world, so I think it's a great perspective having really different judges coming from different parts of the style and fashion world, which was so important for this season.” So guys, no drama here, and especially no pitting women against each and trolling them online. It's just a great show about fashion, so please let it be!
Reframing the thinking around fashion, newness and consumption is essential to move the industry forwards.
