What is it about a bob? There is something so joyful, fun, and fabulous about a great short hairstyle. Case in point: Gabrielle Union who served up the most voluminously bouncy style while attending the 2025 NAACP Image Awards on Saturday, 22 February.
Gabrielle's bob was styled and sculpted by her go-to hairstylist, Larry Sims, who deemed her full glam a “Black Bombshell Barbie” moment, and when paired with a sleek, beaded silver Monique Lhuillier gown, Gabrielle definitely looked every bit the bombshell. She even said the look was “my favourite yet,” and we certainly don't disagree.
You gotta see it from all angles to get the full effect:
Gorgeous from the front, gorgeous from the back, the bob hit right at Gabrielle's jawline and was styled in soft, flippy curls and waves similar to a ‘60s bob or the trending “French bob,”. As for her fitted column gown, it added a modern, futuristic touch (the dress was actually inspired by the Empire State Building). Gabrielle’s hair was parted to one side with the front portion curled to partially obscure one eye, adding to the retro bombshell feel. And we can't ignore that volume and body.
Makeup artist Tasha Reiko Brown opted for “clean, skin-focused beauty” with “whispers of peaches” on the star, including a subtle dusting of peachy blush on the apples of her cheeks and a similar shade on her lips, plus a long, fluttery lash. The head-to-toe glam feels like spring personified: the bob is cheerful and flirty and the makeup is fresh and soft.
Earlier this year, Gabrielle gave another retro inspired bob a thoroughly modern makeover during Paris Fashion Week, when she put her spin on the asymmetrical “Posh bob," paired with a sheer panneled dress. Short and sweet indeed!
