How do French girls look so damn chic, all the freaking time? We’re regularly inspired by the instagram feeds of Camille Charriere, Leia Sfez and head of content at French Vogue, Eugenie Trochu, so we’re been keeping an eye on all their Paris Fashion Week street style snaps. There have been some good’uns and we’re banking plenty of style inspo for our new season *lewks*… However we’ve consistently been drawn to their footwear… specifically their boots.
Of course there were a smattering of crazy styles and quirky details on the pavements of Paris but elegant knee-high flat riding boots, chunky lug-sole boots (specifically in paler shades) and cowboy boots all reigned supreme. They’re all fashion classics that will last way beyond this season, making any new purchase a more sustainable choice. We’re overjoyed to see these rebooted versions (we had to, sorry) of the most versatile perma-trends around.

When you unpick the details, the key to aceing French style is to by-pass the trends and choose timeless styles that you’ll still love and be wearing for years to come. Those perfect jeans, the trench coat, a blazer… none of them are items that scream ‘one season wonder,’ are they?
So, how can you style each of these boot styles for maximum longevity?
Flat, knee-high riding boots, the most elegant of these bunch of boots look best with an equally chic coat, like Camille’s wool version. Classic yet cool, break up the darkness with a flash of leg peeking out from under a pair of shorts for an unexpected twist. Cowboy boots are the most playful style we saw at the shows so add extra quirk with some tassels, like a fringed jacket, as seen on Leia Sfez. The chunky lug-sole boot has been around for several seasons and is the newest classic on the block. Balance out the volume of the sheer size of the soles with a miniskirt and keep the rest of your look tonal, with pale shades to emphasise the boots.

Et voila, you too can master effortless French chic without even trying… or perhaps just a little bit.
