Florence Pugh busts out the velvet for autumn and looks incredible

’Tis the season for cosy fabrics.

It's October and the temperature has suddenly dropped, which Florence Pugh appears to be celebrating with cool-weather-appropriate fabrics. It's only the second week of fall and the Don't Worry Darling actor has appeared in not one but two all-velvet ensembles in as many days. The season of linen is over. The time of velvet has begun.

First, let us admire the figure-hugging emerald velvet jumpsuit Miss Flo wore to the Netflix Awards Brunch. She kept the accessories and makeup relatively minimal so as to let the jumpsuit do the talking. To me, it says, “I am sexy but also cosy. I would like a glass of red wine and a seat on the terrace next to a heat lamp.”

If I had one wish it would be for a shorter hem on the flared pant, because I'm a little worried that when she goes to walk, she's going to trip and fall directly on her face. Other than that, I have no notes for this look.

Pugh also stepped out this week in a light blue velvet dress with a lot more going on, thematically. After much consideration, I think I'm digging the schoolgirl vibes of the wide black collar and puffed sleeves, especially when paired with the much more grown-up pearl drop earrings. The button-down midi dress was Pugh's look for a special screening in London of her new film The Wonder, in which she plays an English nurse caring for a girl who has managed to survive without eating for months, per the Daily Mail.

Personally, I am taking Florence Pugh's velvet as my cue to dig out the thickest, softest, warmest fabrics I can find in my wardrobe and bury myself in them. Let Pugh inspire you to do the same, or start shopping Autumn's best velvet pieces.
