Oh, they grow up so fast. Florence Pugh's rapidly evolving red carpet style was on full display at the Academy Awards on Sunday, March 12, where she was a presenter. At her first Oscars in 2020, you may remember that she wore a teal belted, tiered dress to mixed reviews from fashion critics. But this year, there's no denying Miss Flo belongs on the best-dressed list.
The Don't Worry Darling actor wore a strapless, billowing Valentino Couture gown that alone would have had us talking. However, it's the surprise underneath the dress that took the look to the next level: a pair of peekaboo black micro shorts. In a red-carpet interview with E!, Pugh described the look as a “bit of romantic, bit of punk.”
Pugh accessorized the outfit with a pair of black platform heels, pink tourmaline and diamond earrings, and a sculptural Tiffany & Co. necklace. Her beauty look was inspired too—especially when it comes to the hair, which appears to be a ponytail flipped up to create a chic micro fringe. A little black bow completed the look.
Though Florence Pugh didn't appear in any of the nominated films this year, she did lend her voice to the character of Goldilocks in Puss in Boots: The Last Wish, which is up for the best-animated feature. She also covered the most recent edition of the Vanity Fair Hollywood issue and referenced a cinematic masterpiece on Instagram: “This was such a weird/wonderful/bizarre day because everywhere you looked there was extremely talented actors chatting or laughing behind every corner. It was an incredible honor to be included that day, now seeing the photos all these months later I am filled with immense appreciation to see all our names together….Also I low-key look like a Cullen and I’m loving it? Take this as my Twilight audition.” This woman has TASTE.
Speaking of, her other recent fashion forays include a concerted effort to bring back peplum and a completely sheer sequined skirt over panties paired with a cropped grey sweatshirt. Absolute definition of high/low. The beading! The day before the Oscars, she went full Tinker Bell in a green minidress. Keep the looks coming, Flo.
