Extrapolations is a new anthology series that will make you sit up and take note of the realities of climate change and its consequences on humanity.

Created by Scott Z. Burns, the man behind the 2011 film Contagion, the upcoming Apple TV+ drama, which has been in development since 2020, will depict eight interconnected stories set over a 33 years timespan that will imagine how we adapt and survive on Earth, with the first story starting from the year 2037.As well as its environmental message, this series has drawn attention due to its extensive A-list cast, which will undoubtedly have people tuning in worldwide.

What is Extrapolations about?

The official synopsis for the show reads: "Extrapolations is a bracing drama from writer, director and executive producer Scott Z. Burns that introduces a near future where the chaotic effects of climate change have become embedded into our everyday lives. Eight interwoven stories about love, work, faith and family from across the globe will explore the intimate, life-altering choices that must be made when the planet is changing faster than the population. Every story is different, but the fight for our future is universal. And when the fate of humanity is up against a ticking clock, the battle between courage and complacency has never been more urgent. Are we brave enough to become the solution to our own undoing before it's too late?"

While the stories will be diverse in characters and locations, they will be connected by the ongoing climate crisis that threatens to cause chaos in our lives. The promo for the series focuses on "love, work, faith and family from across the globe" while also hammering home the "intimate, life-altering choices that must be made when the planet is changing faster than the population."

Who stars in Extrapolations?

Okay, brace yourself because there is some serious star power in the show. The cast includes Sienna Miller, Matthew Rhys, Heather Graham, Meryl Streep, Edward Norton, Kit Harington and  Gemma Chan.

When is Extrapolations released?

The first three episodes of Extrapolations will premiere on Apple TV+ on 17 March, and the remaining five will be released weekly.
