Yes, centrist Emmanuel Macron bossed the fascist candidate Marine Le Pen in every category of age and gender to win the French election and become its new President.

The election also saw the highest level of French voters choosing not to vote for either candidate in years

It was a pretty clear victory for Macron, and it caused a stir among people who'd expected Le Pen to walk it – which in turn, led to a lot of sarcastic jokes

People got really excited about the prospect of Macron, who is not an unattractive man, meeting a certain liberal Canadian prime minister

Although, more seriously, people without a liberal head of state felt a bit gutted
