Emily Ratajkowski makes headlines just for the outfits she wears while running errands, so we knew her look for the 2023 Met Gala would be one to watch. And we were right. The podcaster and bestselling author arrived at The Metropolitan Museum of Art for the event wearing an ethereal gown and chic blunt “bangs”.

Ratajkowski certainly followed the dress code for this year's theme, which was "Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty" to celebrate the life and work of the designer and longtime Chanel creative director. While her dress is not a Lagerfeld design – it's Tory Burch – the look still pays homage to his signature style through the intricate bodice design, which is supposed to mimic the quilted pattern of a classic Chanel bag.

But perhaps the most exciting part of Ratajkowski's look are the new blunt "bangs" she debuted alongside a dramatic smokey eye. The model balanced it all out with soft, voluminous curls pulled back in a dainty black bow. We're told she used Great Lengths extensions for the look.

This isn't Ratakjowski's first time working the Met Gala red carpet, of course. Last year she turned heads in an intricate vintage Versace dress. The see-through dress was made up of strategically placed beads and jewels of vibrant colours, which were only made more eye-catching against the gold details. Model Yasmeen Ghauri first wore the work of art on the Versace runway in 1992 and the piece had been perfectly preserved for its next wearer.

In 2021, Emily Ratakjowski wore red Vera Wang for the event. To fit that year's theme, “In America: A Lexicon of Fashion,” the model and designer paid homage to the American bride. “We went kind of romantic,” Ratakjowski told red carpet host Keke Palmer. “She has an incredible bridal collection, she did one that was all red so it’s a tribute to that.”

While we were excited to see what look Ratajkowski would wear to this year's Met Gala event, there was another question that seemed to be on everyone's minds: Who would be her plus one? Following her divorce from ex-husband Sebastian Bear-McClard, she has been linked to several high-profile names.

First, there was Brad Pitt, though that fizzled out quicker than it started; at the time, a source revealed to Us that they had “been on a few dates and have been enjoying each other’s company." She was also rumoured to be seeing Pete Davidson, artist Jack Greer and comedian Eric Andre, and Ratajkowski was caught sharing a kiss with Harry Styles in March while the singer was touring in Tokyo. Around that time, she described someone she's been seeing for two months as “kind of great” during an appearance on the Going Mental With Eileen Kelly.

It seems that after all that speculation, Ratajkowski opted to walk the red carpet solo. It's for the best. With a look this good, a plus one, no matter how famous, would simply get lost in the background.
