I have a confession: When it comes to designer trainers, well, all fashion trainers really, I'm not necessarily the girl who would queue for hours for the latest drops, preferring instead to let the real connoisseurs show me the way.
I usually take my cues from celebrities like Emily Ratajkowski and Rihanna for intel on what trainers will be trending next season as these A-listers often get their hands on designer kicks before they even hit stores (or, in RiRi's case, design their own dream trainers that sell out the second they hit the ground). Emily introduced us to the Puma Speedcats when she took a stroll around NYC in a pair of unreleased styles, sending the internet into a frenzy and let's not revisit the Adidas Samba craze set off by every It girl from Bella Hadid to Kendall Jenner.
While the Adidas Sambas are still very much the all-rounded city trainers, their ubiquity has caused some girls to hop off the train and find the next It shoe (such is the cycle of fashion!).

Enter: The Dries Van Noten trainers. Less chunky than the On x Loewe designer trainers and a little more obscure than your high street faves, their IYKYK appeal is exactly what discerning fashion girlies have caught onto. It's no secret that retro styles and colour ways in sleek, track-shoe silhouettes have become the go-to for the fashion set. These Dries Van Noten trainers, which first debuted on the designer's autumn/winter 2024 runway, check all of the aforementioned boxes and more.
Minimalist girlies will love their plain suede styles in black or tan, and more adventurous fashionistas can opt for their all-gold or colour-blocked versions. Compared to some other sold-out designer trainers (ie: Miu Miu x New Balance) the fact that these fly under the radar is exactly the point, and means you'll tire of them less easily.
The first drop of the trainers sold out almost immediately but are thankfully back in stock, although probably not for long. NET-A-PORTER customer searches for Dries Van Noten trainers have increased 100% in the last three months according to the luxury retailer, so we'll be racing you to the check out line.
