Happy disability pride month to all the disabled babes and allies!

Disability Pride month is a time to celebrate disabled people and amplify our voices, but we also get to discuss how stunning we are! It's time for me to show you my favourite disabled fashion and beauty icons… so, in no particular order, we have:

Samantha Jade Duran

Instagram content

Samantha goes by @adisabledicon on Instagram, where she shows us her bright, colourful and funky outfits and how she styles them! Samantha is an ambulatory wheelchair user, and she shows her audience what clothes look like when she's standing up compared to when she's sitting in her wheelchair.

She also created her own adapted top that would be accessible for her to wear when she was recovering from her surgery! She can do it all! Samantha is a fierce disability advocate and often discusses inequalities within the disabled community and calls out government rulings that make our lives harder. All while looking like a baddie!

Katouche Goll

Instagram content

Katouche goes by @creolesauce, and she shows us how she does her makeup through chatty get-ready-with-me’s and also tells us story times! She also shows us her workout fits to see what feels more comfortable, but they obviously need to look amazing, too! Katouche has Cerebral Palsy, so while looking amazing in her gym fits, she shows her audience her gym routine and how she adapts it to her disability!

Lucy Dawson

Instagram content

Lucy goes by @luuudaw and she is the CEO of womps! Lucy creates content for people with bigger womps (boobs) who struggle to find anything from bras to dresses that fit comfortably over their chest. She also has fun dressing up as iconic celebrity starlets such as Marilyn Monroe and Jayne Mansfield. Lucy has a rare brain disease and is paralysed in one of her lower legs, so she continues to discuss inequalities disabled people face by making engaging, educational content.

Aariana Rose Philip

Instagram content

Aariana goes by @aarianaphilip and is a black, transgender, disabled model. She is the first electric wheelchair user to collaborate with many major high-end brands, including Moschino, having even been featured in one of their 2020 fashion campaigns! She is so iconic that she even landed herself on the front cover of Vogue for their “Reframing Fashion” campaign. Aariana is such a powerhouse and I can't wait to see what she does next!

Luna Jay

Instagram content

Luna goes by @lunajay_r and they post high-quality images of themselves in different bright colourful outfits, all the way to sensual lingerie! They also post powerful pictures using their mobility aids, showing disabled people that they can be proud of their disability and look amazing doing it! A lot of Luna's images are self-shot, which gives them more control over how they want their outfits to look.

Luna says: “Fashion to me as a disabled person is reclaiming a body I have little control over, I don't get to choose where my next injury, or permanent change comes from”.

Tess Daly

Instagram content

Tess is known as @tess.daly. Tess was one of the first disabled creators in the UK to really pave the way for the rest of the community. Tess is a fashion and beauty creator who showcases her favourite makeup brands and products, while also sharing her experiences as a wheelchair user with 24/7 carers.

Briel Adams Wheatley

Instagram content

Briel, known as @no_limbs_, was born without arms and legs. She creates content to educate people on how she lives her life with her partner. Briele posts videos showing how she does her makeup and gets dressed with mobility equipment using different techniques she has adapted. She continues to speak out for the disabled community through motivational talks and works with companies such as Instagram. She is all around such a diva!

Stella Kae

Instagram content

Stella, known as @stellakae444, became disabled towards the end of 2024 and is now in an electric wheelchair. Before Stella became disabled, she modelled for iconic brands such as Selkie, and she continues to work with them now. Stella has been documenting her journey as a newly disabled person, sharing how she's adapting to her life, and she's honestly such a queen! She continues to post about fashion and what it's like dating as a disabled person.

Stella says: “This is my first year as a disabled person,n and I wish I saw more acknowledgement from brands and able-bodied creators this month”.

She goes on to say, “That being said, I have really loved seeing all the empowering and educational content from disabled creators this month”.

“I want people to know that the disabled community is full of some of the coolest, most supportive people you’ll ever meet. That’s honestly been the biggest glimmer in all of this for me”.
