Since then, we've seen the trend take over the autumn-winter 2024 runway. Miu Miu's boxy purses were decked out with silk pouches and luggage tags and Gigi Hadid added onto her Miu Miu Arcadie bag with a Deadpool bag charms for the Marvel film premiere in NYC. Elsewhere, Balenciaga's latest Rodeo bags had giant keys and locks chained to the handles and Coach's oversized totes had kitchy NYC trinkets like big apple and the Statue of Liberty keychains jangling from the straps.
The idea is to put a lived-in spin on your favourite luxury handbag, to go all-out personalising your totes with meaningful mementos or simply cute accessories. TikTok has coined the OTT trend “Jane Birkin-ifying your bag" and now, this fad has flown off the runway and straight onto the streets of Copenhagen, where our favourite street style girls have been flaunting their tricked-out bags with everything from plush toys to jewellery.
If past Copenhagen Fashion Weeks are anything to go by, trends sparked on the streets of the Danish capital tend to spread like wildfire throughout the season. We have a feeling we'll all be dangling and jangling into fall, so here's your cue to start bedazzling your bag. Remember, more is more!
