The short-haired girls are taking over. First Beyonce's dramatic pixie crop become the talk of twitter last week and now social media savvy supermodel Coco Rocha has followed suit - chopping off her hair and live-blogging the experience on Twitter.

Whilst at first we were dubious about live-tweeting a haircut (imagined tweets include "Oh, they've chopped a little bit more off! Now a bit more!") - the gradual reveal of her chop in twitpics and Instagram snaps (which happened thanks to Allure magazine) is way more interesting than it sounds - and we love the finished result - a Tilda-Swinton inspired, edgy crop not dissimilar to Michelle Williams's recent choppy 'do.

So why the change?

"With my job, my hair is constantly dyed and fried, and it won't grow any longer, so I decided it was time to get rid of it," the model told Allure magazine.

Bravely, Coco allowed husband James Conran to take the first cut into her hair, before hairstylist Anh Co Tran took over to finish off her hairstyle. The choppy crop, whilst longer at the front, had a shaved side for added edge.

Coco is clearly pleased with the results, tweeting "Huge thanks to @AnhCotranHair for giving me the coolest haircut of my life! #BabyTilda #shorthairdontcare"
