Christina Applegate has revealed she turned down the role of Elle Woods in Legally Blonde.
The 43-year-old star spoke to Entertainment Tonight about the 2001 hit film, and her chance to star in it:
"The script came along my way and it was right after I had finished Married... and it was, you know, a blonde who was, in that first script dimwitted but ends up going to Harvard... It was just, I got scared. I got scared of kind of repeating myself."
She later commented that perhaps it was a mistake, when she said: "What a stupid move that was!"
She did however say she was very happy that Reese Witherspoon was eventually given the role: "Reese deserved that and she did a much better job than I ever could, so that's her life, that's her path."
We wonder what could have been... !
