The V&A's wedding dress exhibition opens this Saturday, 5 May - and we've got a sneak peek at some of the gorgeous, swoon-worthy wedding gowns on display.
Wedding Dresses 1775-2014 features over eighty of the most romantic, glamorous and extravagant wedding outfits from the V&A's collection, from Kate Moss's spectacular couture wedding dress designed by John Galliano, to the purple Vivienne Westwood dress chosen by Dita Von Teese (2005), and the Dior outfits worn by Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale on their wedding day (2002).
Of course, it's not all about the celeb wedding dresses. Displayed chronologically over two floors, the exhibition focuses on bridal wear as well as the accessories, with personal details about each of the wearers, and a look at bridal trends - from the historical costumes favoured in the 19th century, to the imaginative and practical bridal gowns that emerged during the Second World War due to clothing restrictions.
The changing cultural attitudes to weddings are also explored, from the spectacle and glamour of celebrity and society weddings that kicked off in the early 20th century, to the more "out-there" weddings and outfits on display - most notably the cut-out Pam Hogg gown chosen by model Mary Charteris in 2012.
