Who is Ruth Codd?

Ruth Codd is a 29-year-old Irish actor best known for her roles in The Midnight Club and The Fall of the House of Usher.

Originally a barber and professional make-up artist, during the COVID pandemic, Ruth began posting on TikTok, where she gained impressive traction, racking up over 672k followers and 20.5 million likes for her ‘comedic nun' and disability awareness content.

Since then, Ruth has deleted her old TikTok account to focus on acting, with her quickly getting picked up by Netflix to star as Anya in The Midnight Club and Juno in The Fall of the House of Usher, as well as going on to play Phlegma the Fierce in the 2025 How to Train Your Dragon live-action remake. Oh, and did we mention she also came third in Celeb Cooking School? It's safe to say that this girl has range.

Ruth continues to be a keen advocate for disability awareness on her social platforms, having spoken candidly about a football injury she endured at 15, with ongoing complications from this eventually leading to her having her right leg amputated.

Speaking on the experience in an interview, Ruth said, “My injury is the greatest challenge I’ve faced in my life so far. I injured it playing soccer at the age of 15. It never healed correctly, so until I was 23, I was on and off crutches, getting loads of operations. Because of nerve damage and chronic pain, I chose to get it amputated. It took eight years of my life, constantly going in and out of hospital.”

She explained, “My whole life revolved around trying to heal my leg. For years, I didn’t see it getting any better. I was stuck in a really bad mindset, and I was pissed off at life. When I made the decision to amputate it, things finally started to turn around. It was a relief. I could get on my life.”

Ruth on joining Celebrity Traitors

On her decision to join Celebrity Traitors, Ruth said, “I'm questioning everything now! I've never done anything like this before. I watched the show, and I just thought it'd be really good fun."

She added, “I think because of the way I dress, everyone thinks that I'm dark and spooky all the time. And because of the parts I play. I'm not really like my roles at all. Well, I'd like to think so, because I normally end up playing really mean people! So, I'd like to think there's no similarity.”

Does Ruth want to be a Faithful or Traitor?

So what team will Ruth end up on? For now she remains as Faithful, though as we know all too well there's still everything to play for, with the actor saying “I'd be happy with either. I'm kind of 50/50. I'm a very indecisive person. I flip flop back and forth."

Iiiinteresting. Let's watch this space!
