The BBC's top earner's list caused national outrage this week as it was revealed that only one third of its 96 broadcasters are women. Oh, and that those women are paid four times less than their male colleagues. However, it's not all bad news.
Following some light investigative work, GLAMOUR has discovered that 52% of the broadcasters in the top ten BBC pay brackets have savvy, shot-calling female agents.
Yep, as the old saying goes, behind every great man (or woman) is an even greater woman. And in this case, she's getting a well deserved cut of that multi figure salary they're pocketing every year, all while proving once again that women are powerhouses in their own right.
Here's the proof...
BBC Radio 2 presenter Steve Wright earns between £500,000-£549,999 and is represented by Sally Dellow-Panayioutou at Primer Performer agency.
Strictly Come Dancing presenter Claudia Winkleman earns between £450,000-£499,999. Her agent is Abi Welton at KBJ Management.
Like Claudia, The One Show host and former Blue Peter presenter Matt Baker collects an annual pay cheque of £450,000-£499,999. He is managed by Jo Carlton, who owns Talent4 Media Limited.
Political commentator Andrew Marr is paid £400,000-£449,999 however, his salary has since reportedly been deducted by £140,000. He is represented by Newspresenters Ltd agent, Mary Greenham who has worked in her profession for over 20 years.
Retired footballer Alan Shearer has been a presenter on BBC's Match of the Day since 2006 and like Marr, is paid between £400,000-£449,999. His agent is Melissa Chappell, director of I Will Know Someone agency.
Scottish TV and radio presenter Nicky Campbell also fell under the £400,000-£449,999 pay bracket and is represented by female agent, Joscelyn Henton at Anita Land Ltd.
The One Show host Alex Jones is the second highest earning female broadcaster at the BBC earning between £400,000-£449,999. She is represented by Grace O'Leary at Independent Talent Group.
BBC Radio 1 Breakfast host Nick Grimshaw pockets an annual salary of £350,000-£399,999. He is managed by Caroline Ridley at Money Talent Management.
BBC Radio 2presenter Simon Mayo is also paid between £350,000-£399,999. His agent is Emily Rees Jones at PBJ Management.
Strictly Come Dancing presenter also earns £350,000-£399,999falling into the tenth highest pay bracket. She is represented by Emma Forde at James Grant Group.
Although there is still very much a long way to go for true equality for both women and people of colour within the BBC, this is one tiny glimmer of hope we'd like to hold on to.
