Christina Aguilera has given her two cents following Britney Spears's claims she did not support her following the ending of her conservatorship.
To get you up to scratch (in case you've been living under a rock…), up until earlier this month, Britney was under a 13-year conservatorship granted to her father, Jamie, in 2008.
It ended after a fierce legal battle (gaining public support as the #FreeBritney movement) which eventually saw Jamie agreeing to terminate the conservatorship.
Since then, the fall-out has been considerable: with Britney taking to her Instagram account to speak freely about her life after conservatorship: including highlighting the complicity of her mother, Lynne, in her ordeal.
She teased a potential Oprah interview.

More recently, in an Instagram Story last week, Britney weighed in on her one-time Mickey Mouse Club counterpart and friend Christina, sharing footage of a recent press appearance where Christina was “refusing to speak” about her one-time friend.
While the Story has now expired, the footage itself and Britney's message can be viewed here in a tweet from pop culture account, @PopCrave.
Filmed during an appearance at the 2021 Latin Grammys, Christina is asked if she has any communication with Britney – in the wake of her conservatorship being dissolved.
Yet, a man next to her – presumably, a member of her publicity team – responds “No we're not doing that today," before Christina agrees: “I can't, but I'm happy for her.”

"I love and adore everyone who supported me… But refusing to speak when you know the truth, is equivalent to a lie! Thirteen years being in a corrupt abusive system, yet why is it such a hard topic for people to talk about? I’m the one who went through it,” wrote Britney on her Stories, captioning the footage.
Now, a source close to Christina has revealed the star's feelings, in an exclusive interview with US publication HollywoodLife.
“Christina wasn’t expecting to be called out from Britney, she was genuinely surprised over the call out,” said the source.
"They obviously aren’t close friends with each other anymore, but they still hold a history with each other that Christina feels she should still protect. Now Christina would like to have a private chat with Britney to settle some issues that still clearly lie."
Apparently, they would just tell her, “Sorry, you’re in a conservatorship.”

In the interests of fairness, it's worth mentioning that Christina wrote a moving open later about Britney's conservatorship back in June this year, sharing her words in a moving Twitter thread which began:
"These past few days I’ve been thinking about Britney and everything she is going through. It is unacceptable that any woman, or human, wanting to be in control of their own destiny might not be allowed to live life as they wish.
“To be silenced, ignored, bullied or denied support by those ‘close’ to you is the most depleting, devastating and demeaning thing imaginable. The harmful mental and emotional damage this can take on a human spirit is nothing to be taken lightly."

What's more, back in July this year Christina was rumoured to be part of a group of celebrities setting up a legal fund to end Britney Spears' conservatorship, which included Mariah Carey, Miley Cyrus and Britney's ex, Justin Timberlake.
“What can I say .. the EFFORT on their part”

Yet, public feuds between A-lister women (remember the age-old Katy Perry/Taylor Swift saga?) are nothing new, and the only people who can really know what's going on behind closed doors.
We just hope they get some time to have that “quiet chat”, as the more support Britney receives at this time the better.
