Brie Larson has been many things, but she’s pretty much always been blonde. Until now. The Oscar-winning actor just debuted a super-short and super-dark new hairstyle for her upcoming debut on the West End, and it looks fantastic.
Taking to Instagram, Brie uploaded two pictures of herself in her new do, which comes courtesy of colourist Jacob Schwartz and stylist Cervando Maldonado, captioning the post: “Elektra is here”.
Please note that Elektra, the name of the play and Larson’s character, is based on the Greek tragedy, not the Marvel character. The show will run at the Theatre Royal Brighton for a week in January before moving to London for previews, and the official opening night is February 5.
Per People, you have until mid-April to catch Brie, alongside Stockard Channing, seeking vengeance for her father’s murder, if that’s your bag (it’s an English translation).

Since the pictures are in black and white, we can’t be sure if Brie has gone to black or perhaps a dark brown, but either way, is anyone else getting major Audrey Hepburn vibes? It’s giving Roman Holiday makeover, but even more so, it’s giving Sabrina.

On Instagram, fans are excited for Brie’s new direction – that is, both her shift to stage acting and her exciting Pixie Era. “this suits you so much, I'm OBSESSED and can’t wait to see you bring elektra to life in the new year,” wrote one. “This makes me squeal with excitement. You’re going to crush,” added fellow thespian Sarah Paulson.
It’s been kind of a quiet year for Brie Larson (except for when she had an adorable meltdown meeting Jennifer Lopez), though she recently won acclaim for her role in the Apple TV adaptation of Lessons in Chemistry.
Excited to see where 2025 takes her… and her hair.
