Well, that's that. Bridgerton season 4 is officially over. Against all odds, Benedict and Sophie got their happily ever after. And we got a string cover of Charli XCX's “360.” Everyone wins! Except, perhaps, poor Francesca, who lost her husband John to (checks notes) a bad headache.

You may have missed it, but there was actually an extra post-credits scene at the end of this season of Bridgerton. And trust us when we say, you don't want to miss it. Not only does it offer a very cute button on the end of Benedict and Sophie's story, it also contains a few subtle hints about what is coming next. And, honestly, we are already in Bridgerton withdrawal, so we'll take any hints we can get!

What happens in the Bridgerton season 4 post-credits scene?

A wedding! And a beautiful one at that. After about a minute of credits, we cut to a picturesque garden wedding. Benedict is waiting at the altar with his older brother and best man Anthony. “I have some advice for you,” Anthony says. “The wisest thing I can impart is never to listen to me again.” Anthony was, as a reminder, very against the whole Benedict-marries-a-maid thing. “Father would be so proud of you,” Anthony adds. “I know I am.” Cute!

Sophie soon appears in a beautiful, fairytale-worthy white wedding dress along with her bestie, Alfie the footman, who walks her down the aisle. They say their “I dos” as the Bridgertons happily watch on. Cue happy tears from us all!

The post-credits scene has a hint about season 5's couple

Before the ceremony, Kate turns to her siblings-in-law and asks, “Whose wedding do you think we will be attending next?”

“Oh, I do love a wedding,” Eloise says to her stunned family. “All of the best people in the same place.”

After a moment of silence, she adds with a scoff, “As an attendee!”

Could it be that the famously anti-marriage Eloise is coming around to the idea of finding her match? It certainly seems that way.

Meanwhile, Francesca also had a few telling words to say. After Penelope asks her, “Do you think you'll ever do it again,” she replies, “Me? A wedding? No! I have had my great love. One time is enough.”

Methinks these ladies do protest too much! And methinks both of them are probably going to get their fair share of romance next season.

Who is the season 5 couple?

Right now, we don't know for sure who will lead season 5 – however, there are a lot of hints pointing at both Eloise and Francesca.

In addition to that rather telling post-credits scene, we have EP and showrunner Jess Brownell, who wore a pocket-square with the initials E & F embroidered on it to the season 4 premiere.

She confirmed that Eloise and Francesca would lead season 5 and 6 – “in what order, I can't say.”

If we're really going to read into the post-credits scene, we could infer that it will be Eloise followed by Francesca purely based on who spoke first.

The groundwork has certainly been laid for them both. Francesca, spoiler, falls for John's cousin Michaela – and the pair have already started forming a friendship this season, with Michaela even tossing a few longing looks at her cousin-in-law.

Meanwhile, Eloise has also gone through quite the transformation this season, becoming more open to the idea of love and marriage after seeing Benedict, Penelope, Cressida and pretty much everyone else around find happiness with their partners.
