Blue Ivy Carter might only be 13, but she's already racking up impressive titles. She's an award-winning musician, a model, and a dancer — but her newest role? Manager Blue.
Following her viral participation in Beyoncé's Renaissance tour, Blue Ivy is back on stage with her mom for the Cowboy Carter tour, and she is stronger in her performance than ever before. So far after each show, social media is inundated with reactions to Blue's dances, facial expressions, and interactions with the audience.
Blue Ivy is not shying away from interacting with fans while on tour, and is, in fact, crafting a fandom of her own with her moves and viral “Manager Blue” moments. Below, we break down the origins of the “Manager Blue" meme movement and TikTok's infatuation with the young superstar in the making.
We love a deep cut.

What is the ‘Manager Blue’ movement?
The ‘Manager Blue’ meme is a running joke among Beyoncé fans, who have crowned Bey and Jay's eldest daughter with the moniker as a way to exemplify her hands-on nature and clear work ethic. The name really seems to have taken off during the Cowboy Carter tour, with many posting moments of Blue Ivy to social media and tagging it as such.
Some of the instances people have classified under the Manager Blue files include the 13-year-old directing sister Rumi after she joined her and Beyoncé on stage, as well as taking out her in-ear to assess whether the crowd was singing along to “Before I Let Go” loud enough.
Where did the Manager Blue meme originate?
While it's hard to pinpoint the first instance where the ‘Manager Blue’ name was used, the wording seems to have picked up traction during the Cowboy Carter tour. That said, fans have been pointing out Blue Ivy's “managerial" skills since she was a toddler.
Back in 2018, when she was just six, Blue Ivy went viral after she famously told her parents, Beyoncé and Jay-Z, to quiet down at the Grammys. The moment, now etched into pop culture, showed her signalling her parents to stop clapping and making a hushing gesture with her mouth and hands.
That same year, Tina Knowles shared a throwback video of Blue Ivy Carter reminding her to follow the rules inside a Paris theatre, and she also offered some feedback behind the scenes during Beyoncé's September 2018 Vogue cover shoot.
Even at the 2016 VMAs, when she accompanied Beyoncé on the red carpet, some already said the superstar had “brought her manager” along, referring to Blue Ivy. (Mind you, she wore a $11k dress for the occasion. too.)
There are clips from Renaissance: A Film by Beyoncé in which we can see the 13-year-old giving her unfiltered opinions on the tour setlist — notably advocating to keep “Diva” in the mix — which people shared with “Manager Blue” wording as early as 2023.
More recently, and outside of the Cowboy Carter Tour, before she joined Beyoncé on stage at the Grammys 2025, Blue Ivy also caught fans' attention while reacting to her mum's shocked expression when winning AOTY; many believe the teenager was trying to signal Bey to get up quickly and accept the coveted prize.
Back in December 2024, Shaboozey also shared that Blue was “giving notes” during Beyoncé's NFL Christmas Day Halftime show, which included giving “shot ideas and scene changes," which people have also filed into the “Manager Blue” dossier. Grandma Tina Knowles has also playfully referred to Blue Ivy as her “beauty guru and manager.”
What does Blue Ivy think of the Manager Blue title?
Blue Ivy is very much aware of her Manger Blue moniker and, in fact, has even given it her stamp of approval. During the Cowboy Carter show from May 4 at SoFi Stadium, user @garedennn brought a sign that read “We Love U Manager Blue,” which caught the 13-year-old's attention.
In the middle of performing “TEXAS HOLD ’EM,” Blue Ivy caught wind of the sign, stopped for a second to point at it, and then gave it a thumbs up while nodding her head. The video has since been shared across multiple social media accounts, racking up thousands of views and likes.

And during the penultimate Cowboy Carter tour stop in Los Angeles, on 7 May at SoFi Stadium, TikTok user @netoborelli got a reaction from Blue, too, with a similar sign. Borelli's sign read, “Manager Blue thank you for saving ‘Diva’ we all love you.” While strutting down the catwalk and waving to the crowd, Blue noticed the sign and pointed Borelli out with a knowing smirk and an effusive head nod.
Why are TikToks of Blue Ivy interacting with and speaking directly to fans going viral?
Alongside Manager Blue videos, you might have also seen a viral video of Blue Ivy backstage chatting about her choreographer. The main reason why these videos are going viral — aside from the fact that she is a superstar in the making, amassing a legion of fans of her own known as the
Blue Ivy League — is because, well, we rarely get to hear her speak.
Though Beyoncé might have allowed her to become a fixture on her tours, Blue Ivy is still a teenager, and she is still not fully in the spotlight. She's not on stage for the entirety of the show, and her mum still protects her image; so even though we get to see Blue Ivy the performer, we rarely get to see an off-duty version of her, aside from far and few public events like the Super Bowl or appearances at other music festivals. Thanks for keeping the Hive fed, Blue!
