Actor Ben Affleck has apologised to former MTV host and One Tree Hill actress Hilarie Burton for groping her during an appearance on US TV series Total Request Live in 2003.

The 45-year-old actor wrote: "I acted inappropriately toward Ms. Burton and I sincerely apologize"
Affleck's apology came a few hours after Burton confirmed he groped her on the MTV series. Burton tweeted: "I didn't forget … I was a kid," when a fan accused Affleck of being hypocritical after he spoke out against Harvey Weinstein amidst the allegations of his sexual misconduct.

Burton also shared outtakes from the TRL episode, in which describes the incident. "He comes over and tweaks my left boob," she explains in the clip. She captioned the video: "Girls. I'm so impressed with you brave ones. I had to laugh back then so I wouldn't cry. Sending love."
