Ann Summers Touch Sense Massage Wand review 2024 — tried and tested by GLAMOUR's sexual wellness writer

The magic wand, reinvented.

I said it multiple times in 2024: “We need something new.” Before the launch of the Ann Summers Touch Sense Magic Wand, this year's sexual wellness launches have been much of the same. Despite a few more modes and new colourways, there have been no revolutionary toy types. No shade… but a (sexually liberated) woman can dream about a fun new route to the big O, right?

However, Ann Summers has managed to rethink, nay, reinvent the magic wand. I thought we'd seen all possible variations — silent, app-controlled, dual-ended — but by fitting its new (and arguably best) vibrator to date with a suspended motor, the British pleasure retailer has entirely changed the sensations on offer.

The unanticipated perk of personally testing this new device, though? The (welcome) boost to my body confidence. Yep, regular rounds of self-care — in the GLAMOUR office, masturbation falls into the same camp as a face mask and a warm bath — has brought a greater respect for the power my body can hold and, uh, release.

So, read on for everything you need to know about the revolutionary Ann Summers Touch Sense Magic Wand — which, FYI, is now 50% off, thanks to its end-of-year sale. But that begs the question: why haven't you already bagged a saucy stocking filler for your partner with a vulva?

I've said it before, but I actually mean it this time. The Touch Sense Massage Wand Vibrator is a wand vibrator like no other. A quick reminder these not-so-subtle sex toys typically have a rounded, bulbous head designed to direct intense vibrators to your external (AKA nips and clit) erogenous zones. But every sex aid in Ann Summers' new Touch Sense range has, instead, been fitted with a floating motor to offer a unique style of stimulation. Think slightly less intense, but also with the option to alternate between different sensations:

  • Point the tip at your pleasure zones for targeted pleasure.
  • Place the motor parallel to your labia to stimulate the entire erogenous zone.
  • Lay it flat, perhaps with your nipples between the motor and secondary nub for a two-pronged approach to pleasure.

The other distinctive feature worth mentioning? The Touch Sensor Technology — hence its name — means the vibe only begins to quake when it meets the skin. Logical, yes, as this means fewer distractions when you decide to move on from toy-focused taunting to, say, penetration. However, it also makes for easy teasing, meaning you'll have to wait a beat for the motion to kick in.

Also slightly different are its controls. Rather than push-down buttons which aren't particularly friendly to those of us fitted with BIAB nails, the Touch Sense Massage Wand Vibrator has a swipe-motion panel which requires a swift slide from left to right to bump up the ante.

Ann Summers Touch Sense Massage Wand: FAQs

  • Where can I buy The Tennis Pro? It's best to head directly to the Ann Summers site, but you can also pick one up online at Boots.
  • What lube should I use with the Touch Sense Massage Wand? Water-based is best at banishing any unwanted friction when playing with silicone-coated toys.

What (rave) reviews about the Ann Summers Touch Sense Massage Wand had to say:

A major perk of our mutual online shopping addiction — I can't remember the last time I hit the high street — is being able to read unbiased reviews from satisfied shoppers. We started strong, with one fan sharing this review of the Touch Sense Massage Wand: “The floating motor sat perfectly on my clitoris sending long and strong vibrations to all my nerve endings giving a great orgasm.”

Another penned the following: “I’ve always loved solo time with a wand and this just takes it to another level in my eyes. I would say this is the first 10/10 wand I’ve had.” One roped in their partner-with-a-penis for some thorough testing, later sharing some helpful pointers: “With him inside me and with this gem on my clit, I had the most insane, intense orgasm I’ve had for a long time.”

But there were also some constructive pointers from some shoppers — to be expected, considering we all have different tastes and needs. “Perhaps the touch sensor needs to be slightly less sensitive, as when you're turning the toy in your hand, your skin can brush against the touch sensor and change the intensity when you don't want it to," suggested one.

ProsCons
I'd say it's super lightweight and easy to angle, making it both beginner and experienced-player friendly. The 10 vibration patterns aren't anything we haven't seen before — some persistent, others a progressive tease.
That Touch Sensor Technology allows for easy teasing, whether playing solo or with a partner. You'll have cycle through all 10 modes to get back to your favourite.
Sexy but stealthy — this one's absolutely quieter than your electric toothbrush (on average, 60 dB) or your Dyson Airwrap (70 dB).

If you're after a short summary: The Touch Sense Massage Wand Vibrator did everything I needed it to, but also in a way I didn't expect. The floating motor does mean it's a little less intense than you might expect a wand to be — essentially, anticipate a fluttering feeling down there. Is it the most clever sex toy I've ever used? No. But did I think it was both pretty and practical when in need of a quick release? Absolutely. I'd also class this one as beginner-friendly, considering you're not required to know your anatomy that well — simply point and await the pleasure.

Now let's talk logistics. After charging my Touch Sense Massage Wand Vibrator for a little over an hour, I unplugged and got comfortable. A quick hit of that single button powered it on, indicated by the LED light. For a second, I wondered whether it needed a little more juice to get going before remembering that the device only quakes when in contact with skin.

Grazing it against my inner thigh, I was impressed by the power, even on the lowest setting. While not too intense for beginners, it offered more motion than my fingers — something I tend to look for when shopping for a sexual wellness aid. Heading north, I decided to up the intensity with a quick swipe right on the (extremely sensitive) control panel. A quick tip: it only requires a gentle touch somewhat near the control panel, realised this when I accidentally upped the ante on another two occasions.

Once in place, I appreciated that the motion wasn't too buzzy. The separate controls made it easy to change the pattern (hit the button) or up the speed (swipe right) — essentially, there's no need to halt the action to have a quick glance down. Changing up the angle, pattern and speed over the course of ten minutes, I quickly began to feel that familiar build of pressure running up my thighs. Another swipe right to max out the speed and my pleasure peaked.

But after three weeks of regular use and orgasms after most rounds — I take my role as a tester for the latest love things seriously — there was another perk I hadn't anticipated. Wands are often praised for their ability to bring about bigger (and therefore, in some eyes, better) orgasms; the bulbous heads considerately designed to stimulate a larger surface area and, as a result, more of those feel-good nerve endings.

However, I was left impressed by the intense power my body could release on demand — that thought only hitting me once before after my first half-marathon (for someone who's not naturally athletic, finishing was a huge achievement). But this also led to a general confidence boost. Typically, I'm a baggy t-shirt-on, under-the-cover self-lover. But as the days went on, I shed a few layers, sending the wand further to discover what felt great — and left the light on so I could take notes for next time.

Yet to try it with a partner — my efforts on the (best) dating apps are yet to pay off — I don't have any hesitations it'll deliver then too. Easy to use and direct, whether it's me or my partner with the power, I can only see this resulting in a blended orgasm worthy of praise — and a swift discussion in my girls' group chat. Because real friends share their top tips for sexual success.
