But here he is, in Arcade Fire's new video which features the Amazing Spider-Man 2 actor dressed as a woman.
The song, titled We Exist is song about a son's attempt at revealing he is gay to his father. To add to the powerful lyrics, the band have created a powerful video to match.
The video starts with Andrew Garfield shaving his head, putting on female clothing and showing off his new look in public.
Half way through the video, it all gets a bit dark with Andrew Garfield getting beat up, but then you'll be pleased to know that the video quickly transitions into a solo dance party and then a stage show.
