The Barbie film trivia is the gift that keeps on giving – did you know that Ugly Betty alumna America Ferrera's onscreen husband in Greta Gerwig's juggernaut of a film is actually her husband IRL?
Let's break this down. America plays Gloria, an unhappy Mattel employee who befriends Stereotypical Barbie (Margot Robbie) when she enters the real world. Gloria also has a daughter named Sasha (played by (Ariana Greenblatt) and an unnamed husband.
We don't get to see a lot of him, but what we do is short and sweet. There's a question of how he will fare without his wife and daughter as they prepare to leave for Barbie Land, and we're met with a funny scene of him happily learning Spanish on Duolingo, perfectly content.
Another day, another woman-shaming discourse to contend with on social media.
America's IRL husband, writer, director and artist Ryan Piers Williams, actually played this blink-and-you'll-miss-it role. Super cute. She even posted an adorable pic of the two of them at the European premiere for Barbie, with the caption: “My favorite & forever Ken, you cute”.
These two clearly enjoy working together, seeing as they played a couple in Ryan's 2014 drama film X/Y.
The couple have a son and daughter together – Sebastian Piers, who is five years old, and Lucia Marisol, who is three. America also told People that they have no idea that their parents have starred in one of the biggest movies in history.
"They don't really have any context for it," she said. "So one day [they might care]. But not now, they're still too young."

America and Ryan's love story is suitably adorable, of course. They first met back in 2005, when she was a student at the University of Southern California and cast in Ryan's short film, Muertas. They got married five years after they started dating in June 2011.
On the fifteenth anniversary of their meet cute, America Ferrera posted the cutest throwback picture of the two of them, with the most love-up caption ever.
“15 years ago today, these baby faces fell hard and fast in love,” she wrote. "They grew up together. They built a life together. And now they have 2 babies of their own.
