The side ponytail was a favourite hairstyle of the '80s, and it was worn by women of all ages. The style was achieved by gathering the hair to one side and securing it with an elastic band. The ponytail would then be curled, teased or accessorised with ribbons and scrunchies. Although the girlies of Hollywood may not be spotted with side ponytails left right and centre, some of our favs can’t live without a sky high sleek pony. Locs were a popular hairstyle for both men and women in the 80s, particularly among Rastafarian communities. Many people opt for faux locs and butterfly locs for a modern twist to the popular style, so that in can be changed around.
