Having been surprisingly #blessed with relatively pleasant British weather over the last few months - we're referring to the fresh feeling in the air, fun snow days and surprisingly little rain - many of us are a little sad to see the back of the season. That was, of course, before we noticed the evenings getting lighter and immediately couldn't wait until spring...
But, having spent most of winter isolating indoors with the heating on, is the prospect of venturing outside - albeit tentatively - once the days start getting longer a little overwhelming? What does one wear outside of the front door these days?
Winter wardrobe woes reappear every year, but while getting dressed in the morning admittedly takes slightly more planning than a throw-on summer dress, we're here to break the news to you that your late winter outfits can actually be just as fun as your upcoming spring/summer ones.
In fact, it's a universally acknowledged truth amongst fashion editors and influencers alike that cold weather welcomes the real fashion moments. After all, when it's sweltering hot outside there's very little you can do with an outfit to make it feel entirely original.
Which is why, every year, the minute winter officially kicks off the sartorial set give a little cheer - if for nothing more than the return of every fashion fan's favourite concept...
One of the most rewarding ways to play with a look, layers offer up endless opportunities thanks to the multitude of ways in which they can be worn. A chunky knit nestled beneath a coat, a sleeveless knit over the top of a puff-sleeved white shirt, a slim-fit acid green roll-neck peaking out from the collar of navy sweater dress... you get the idea.
But it's all well and good us singing the praises of winter wardrobes, when we all know fashion is an aesthetic game. Looking for some visual inspo to round off your season in style?
