Disney has dropped the final trailer for Toy Story 4 and we're counting down the days
Toy Story is about to make a comeback of Britney circa 2007 proportions with the fourth installment of the iconic Disney film.
At long last, Disney has dropped the final trailer - and it looks like we're in for another epic road trip adventure.
In the brand new trailer, we see all the familiar characters from the franchise reunited, along with the addition of a hopeless but loveable new toy called Forky (voiced by Tony Hale). After getting lost after on a family vacation, the gang embark on a rescue mission to bring their new pal home.
There's also a new moustachioed, daredevil toy on the scene named Duke Caboom (voiced by Keanu Reeves), who describes himself as "Canada's greatest stuntman". According to Bo Peep, he's a real "poser," but he's also the just the kind of toy you'd need in a crisis.
The teaser racked up hundreds of thousands of views in just a few hours on YouTube and it's not hard to see why. Take a peek...
The new trailer stars familiar faces, as well as some new characters including Gabby Gabby, 'an adorable, talking pull-string doll from the 1950s' voiced by Christina Hendricks, and Duke Caboom, 'a 1970s toy based on Canada’s greatest stuntman' who is voiced by Keanu Reeves. We cannot wait.
This time around, Toy Story is tackling the rom-com genre. That’s right, LOVE IS IN THE TOY BOX! But don’t expect any damsel in dresses.
We all know that Woody is loyal AF, after all, he even survived the torture of the evil next-door neighbour, Sid, and an evil toy collector to return to the side of Andy. And after Andy gave his beloved Woody to Bonnie at the end of Toy Story 3 – in the most emotional cinematic scene since Rose let go of Jack in Titanic – he has continued to serve Bonnie loyally as the forth film kicks off.
In Toy Story 4, Woody seeks to save Bonnie’s beloved new craft-project-turned-toy, Forky, who declares himself as “trash” and not a toy. But when Woody skips off on a family road trip, everyone’s favourite cowboy takes an unexpected turn and is reunited with non other than Bo Peep.
This time around, it’s less of the Little and more of the Bo, as Miss Peep has had a sassy makeover. After years of being discarded, Bo took her destiny into her own hands and left the playroom behind, barely looking back for her cowboy.
Gone is the bonnet and she’s slipped off her skirt in favour of a more practical trouser and cape combo to symbolise her new adventure-seeking free spirit. More at home on the road than in the toy box, it turns out her former love interest, Woody, and herself have grown apart.
Annie Potts, who returns to this Disney classic franchise as the voice of Bo Peep, says perfectly: “She is modern, independent, capable and confident. Bo is written and conceived to be inspiring as she has weathered life’s ups and downs with grace. I aspire to that.” This is just the empowered female Disney character we need in 2019.
Whether Woody sweeps Bo Peep back off her feet remains to be seen. But you don’t have long to wait as Toy Story 4 is set to hit cinemas on 21st June 2019.[#video:https://youtube.com/embed/iheSRfN4pkI]
