Love Island 2018: 60,000 people apply for a place in just 12 hours
There's no doubt about it, 2017's most talked about TV show,Love Island , will definitely be back this year. We're not exactly shocked - it was a huge hit! And the new series hasn't been short of potential singles, as 60,000 people fought for a place on the show in the first 12 hours after applications opened on 30 December.
âThe showâs success last year was unprecedented. Bosses are already working hard to ensure the next series lives up to expectations,â a show source told The Sun. âThey will do their best to sign up ideal islanders from the tens of thousands of wannabes.â
Applications to take part in the show are open until 30 April. All you have to do is send in two photos - a headshot and full length picture, as well as a video explaining why you'd make the perfect contestant.
We can't wait for Love Island to be back and we have so many questions. Will the location still be the same? Will Caroline Flack return as host? Will Iain Sterling return as voiceover? And more importantly, will our Love Island water bottles still be intact?
The last series was a total rollercoaster and one of the biggest conversation topics since Brexit. It was pretty epic for ITV2 as well, as they had record ratings, making it ITV2âs most successful format amongst 16-34s.
The show attracted over 2.044 million viewers, with a further 871,000 viewers watching it back within a window of 1-7 days via their TV set. A further 897,000 watched on line, bringing the combined total audience across platforms to 3.8 million viewers.
As you'd expect, it's the younger audiences driving the ratings.
The series, which sees singletons searching for love in a sunshine paradise, generated numerous watercooler moments, with the exploits of couples including Kem and Amber, Camilla and Jamie and Olivia and Chris keeping viewers gripped throughout the summer.
