The best male celebrity glow-ups of all time

Remember a simpler time, circa 2016, when all anyone could talk about was the gargantuan glow-up of a certain Harry Potter star?

For those of you who don't know, the Neville Longbottom Effect is when an awkward, slightly unattractive youngster grows up to be a very freaking hot adult gent. Case in point: Matthew Lewis, who played Harry Potter's goofy Neville Longbottom and is now in his thirties and, umm, not so goofy anymore (see picture evidence, below).

It all started when Matthew appeared shirtless on the cover of Attitude magazine, saying in the interview: "Naturally you think of cover models to be David Beckham or someone insanely handsome, not me... I've never considered myself to be good-looking at all. Just average."

We respectfully disagree, Matt.

This revelation of course sent millennials everywhere into a frenzy, spawning countless memes, glow-up merchandise (yes, there were 'started from the bottom' T-shirts) and the coining of the phrase 'Longbottoming' to describe the male celeb glow-up.

So, in honour of the fittest Harry Potter star (soz, Daniel), we rounded up some of the best boys to men transformations in the world of celebdom. No shade, of course – we think the glow-up is a badge of honour to be worn with pride; a reminder of how far some of our favourite guys have come and grown up over the years (and a salute to their talented glam squads, of course).
