Treehouse Hotel LondonBest Mexican restaurant
Madera Restaurant at Treehouse Hotel
14-15 Langham Pl, London W1B 2QS
How much will it set you back? If you're going for the set menu, expect to pay £24 per head for two courses, and £29 per head for three. To get the most out of the menu, we recommend going for a sharing plate, or plato grande, starting at £45 for the roast chicken and £98 for the Tomahawk steak – served with a choice of three side dishes.
What's so great about it? Let's start with the location: Madera is a five-minute walk from Oxford Circus station, meaning you can enjoy classic London scenery – including the London Eye, The Shard, Canary Wharf, and Regent’s Park – from the haven of this special rooftop restaurant. If that wasn't enough to justify a spot on your Instagram, the food tells its own story. The menu reimagines authentic Mexican cuisine, with a focus on fresh, organic ingredients for an unforgettable culinary experience. Stand-outs include the wild seabass ceviche, the Mayan king prawns, and the Mexican fattoush salad.
Why is it the perfect romantic restaurant? If you and your partner have spent one too many romantic dinners crammed like sardines into a jam-packed restaurant in Central London, Madera is the perfect respite. For one, you can actually hear each other speak. The atmosphere is buzzy, but sophisticated, full of intriguing characters and a sweeping city view below to watch when you can tear your eyes away from each other.
GAIABest Greek restaurant
50 Dover Street, London, W1S 4NY, United Kingdom
How much will it set you back? For three courses and wine, expect to spend around £100 per person.
What's so great about it? I absolutely loved my experience at Mayfair. Its location, just a stone's throw from Green Park at The Ritz, feels incredibly exclusive – and the service is impeccable from the moment you step inside. I loved the interiors – modern, clean, bright and luxurious – while the open-plan bars and fish counters added buzz and personality to the space. We were seated in a private booth, which only added to the exclusive-feel of the space – and enjoyed countless traditional Greek dishes that each felt as though they'd been approached in a refined, modern way. Standouts were the Moussaka – an Aubergine, minced beef, potato and béchamel dish – the the frozen yoghurt. I've never had so many responses to an Instagram story; never thought that such a simple dessert would become one of my all-time favourites.
Why is it the perfect romantic restaurant? Eating at Gaia feels like such a treat. It's definitely a special occasion restaurant, where the highest of food standards are met with friendly service and a really cool vibe. It's the perfect date night spot if you have a little more to spend and want to feel fancy.

Plus, their collaboration with St‑Germain brings a touch of floral elegance, think elderflower-infused Saint 75s and Palomas, elevating every glass with a modern and delicious twist.
Why is it the perfect romantic restaurant? Did we mention the rooftop terrace with hazy views of the city? London never felt more like a stylish night out in Barcelona.
James McDonaldBest for pairing with an overnight stay
Revery Bar at London Hilton Park Lane
22 Park Lane, London W1K 1BE
How much will it set you back? "Around £90 per person, if you order cocktails and a mix of delicious ‘picky bits’, or £65 if you go for ‘Tea, Cakes and Cocktails’ (a cooler, sexier take on a classic afternoon tea), which includes a mixology experience, tableside canapés and sandwiches, scones and patisserie and Revery pic’n’mix.”
What's so great about it? "First off, and a must for a romantic restaurant, it gets the interiors brief bang on. The intimate space pairs muted pink tones and decadent touches (think: a fully-mirrored marble, oscillating bar) with dimmed lighting and plush furnishings (comfy red upholstered armchairs and sumptuous chaise lounges) to create a space that feels both dynamic and hushed. Heavy velvet curtains drape gently carve out individual booths (so you needn't worry about anyone eavesdropping… or eyedropping, for that matter) while the rest of the room seems to undulate around a mix of low tables and pleasingly-long sofas.
"But Revery is more than just it looks, its staff have authentically honed an authentic energy, its cocktail list has been finely crafted and its mix of small plates - think delicate beef tartare tacos, perfectly crispy, and slightly sweet, polenta chips and smooth surf'n'turf sliders - are each a work of art, delicious in their own right.
Why is it the perfect romantic restaurant? “ It has all the trimmings of a perfect evening: memorable cocktails, mouthwatering food, sumptuous décor and intimacy in abundance.
"Not to mention that you can check into one of the recently revamped rooms upstairs to keep the romance going for a deliciously drawn-out evening that parlays into a morning of strolling around Hyde Park - mere steps from the hotel - in the sunshine (we hope) and exploring the city hand-in-hand.
“Everything here feels intentional, as romance should. And, as the name itself suggests, Revery has carved out a little pocket of a notoriously fast-paced city lovers for lovers and dreamers alike.”
Courtesy of Leydi/HydeBest for Turkish food
Leydi at Hyde Hotel London City
15 Old Bailey, City of London, London EC4M 7EF
How much will it set you back? "Around £100 per person, if you order starters, a main, a dessert and wine or a raki-based cocktail. The cocktails are so unique and delicious – and the staff are great at providing recommendations based on your tastes – so I wouldn't leave without getting one.”
What's so great about it? "I've got a favourite Thai restaurant in London, a favourite Sri Lankan, a favourite Greek… the list goes on. But something I didn't have, until I met Leydi, was a favourite Turkish restaurant. As such, it was a total breath of fresh air to go somewhere completely new and different – helped by the fact that the interiors are as pretty as a picture.
“The bespoke menus feature a brightly-coloured marble pattern inspired by the traditional Turkish art, Ebru, and the restaurant is littered with powder pink sofas which make relaxing totally easy. The menu has been thoughtfully designed by renowned chef Selin Kiazim and the talented Halil Simsek, centred around generous meze. Think: home-baked pide, slow-cooked aubergine, the very best chips I've ever tasted, Mangal-grilled meats and fish, and Börek, a crispy filo pastry filled with feta. I loved the joyful, communal style of dining, and how perfectly the team bought the vibrant flavours and all-day dining culture of Istanbul to the heart of London.”
Why is it the perfect romantic restaurant? “It's located on the ground floor of new hotel opening, Hyde London City, so you can totally tag a stay onto your romantic dinner. The property is owned by The Ennismore Group, so of course it's a total dream to spend the night in. Opulent interiors, a rich colour palette, exceptional breakfast and Malin+Goetz toiletries.”

Best for countryside vibes
Sopwell House, Cottonmill Ln, St Albans AL1 2HQ
How much will it set you back? “Around £80 per person for a mix of Japanese fusion sharers, depending on whether you want to go all out with the Wagyu beef or not. Plus a little more if you're looking to get stuck into the cocktails.”
What's so great about it? "Though I could wax lyrical about Omboo for as long as any listener would allow, in essence, it's deserved place on our list of the most romantic restaurant comes down to two key things: the vibe and the food.
"A restaurant within a hotel somehow always gives the illusion of existing within a different time zone, a slower, calmer pace. No one is in a rush and cortisol levels at an all time low for city-dwellers. So, the vibe is one of real intimacy and peace, tucked away in the countryside, just the two of you (plus the other diners...).
“And the menu is entirely designed for sharing, with everything coming as and when it's ready, which again removes the sense of time or any hurriedness, leaving you free to focus on each other. Tuck into a mix of tasty little bites, salads, fish dishes, sashimi and sushi rolls, or leave things in the capable hands of Executive Chef, Derrick Chen comes with 20 years’ experience from the likes of Michelin-starred Hakkasan and The Four Seasons Hotel in London and order the sushi platter, which comes complete with Seared Japanese A5 grade Wagyu rolls.”
“And there's lots for vegetarians and vegans too, the Shitake truffle spring rolls (earthy and rich) and the vegetable tempura (light and crisp) being the standouts here.”
Why is it the perfect romantic restaurant? “Driving through the countryside, into the little lit-up world of Sopwell House, with its vine-clad exterior, wisened trees and glowing fireplace sets the magical tone. Once into the restaurant, the sharing concept, the low lights and the rich floral wallpaper framed by heavy curtains. You can ramp up the romance but adding a room booking to your restaurant reservation so that you can slip straight upstairs once the meal has finished.”
Giles ChristopherBest for Spanish food
25 Circus Rd W, Nine Elms, London SW11 8EZ
How much will it set you back? Around £50 per person, if you have a few sharing plates and a drink.
What's so great about it? “My night at Brindisa Battersea was such a treat. I've visited their other sites before – including Carnaby and Richmond – all of which are dreamy. But the positioning of the Battersea site, directly in the shadow of the Power Station and overlooking the river, is hard to compete with.
"Their menu is made up of a series of small plates and sharing dishes, as you'd expect in a Spanish restaurant, and I could have tried all of them. Everything sounded divine. In the end, we went for a mix of Picoteo (padron peppers, pan con tomate included), as well as some De Siempre (classics) and De Temporada (seasonal dishes). The Ibérico pork solomillo was the star of the show, but the classic dishes like patatas bravas and Chargrilled Alejandro chorizo on toast were also done so well, I could've easily stuck to them solely.
“I enjoyed Spanish wine alongside my food, sat right in the window overlooking the twinkling Thames (I'd recommend grabbing one of these front tables if you can), and the service was exceptional. I loved it for an easy, mid-week date night that didn't compromise on food quality or vibes.”
Why is it the perfect romantic restaurant? “I love the sharing concept. It adds an element of romance to the meal – and gives you something to talk about if you're on a first date gone wrong."

Best for tagging on an overnight stay
The Hoxton Hotel, 199-206 High Holborn, London WC1V 7BD.
How much will it set you back? Around £75 per person, if you have one snack, a starter, a main, a side and two drinks.
What's so great about it? “I'm a die-hard Hoxton fan – I live just around the corner from the Shepherd's Bush hotel and visit frequently, so I was always going to love Rondo. I visited mid-week for a date night with my boyfriend, and loved how relaxed it felt. They've just dropped a new menu which has been curated by Tristan Downes, semi-finalist for National Chef of the Year – one of the most prestigious awards in catering – and former Head Chef at Stevie Parle’s JOY in North Greenwich. It focuses heavily on hyper-seasonal and local ingredients, changing based on the season and availability of produce. We tried the Isle of Wight Tomato Salad with Grezzina courgette, fine beans, radish and a Champagne vinegar, slow braised short rib with courgette and British XO, and the Confit Potatoes and Brown Shrimp with pickled mushroom, puffed rice and mace oil. All so good. Also, don't leave without trying the Blood Peach and Raspberry Mousse with peach and mint salad for dessert. It's so refreshing.”
Why is it the perfect romantic restaurant? “The vibe is cool and sexy, without being pretentious or stuffy. Everything feels so relaxed – from the comfy lobby sofas which you can share a drink in when you first arrive, to the attentive yet never-overpowering service. The Hoxton Holborn is also a great, stylish and central place to stay overnight, so if it's a special occasion, you could absolutely extend your trip.”

Best for something special post-work
5 Frobisher Passage, London E14 4EE.
How much will it set you back? Around £100pp if you go all-out – but you could do it for £30.
What's so great about it? "Take it from me: a die-hard foodie and a shameless frequenter of countless London restaurants. Blacklock is seriously good. You've probably already heard of them, thanks to the huge success of their Soho and Covent Garden restaurants – but following the launch of their Canary Wharf property, the buzz has really picked up. I visited after work on a Friday, and it was relaxed enough to visit straight from the office – but fancy enough to make date night feel special.
"We started with the pre-chop bites (so, so good): Blacklock Potted Meats & Kimchi, Egg & Anchovy (thought I'd hate it, but loved it) and Cheese & Pickle. Then, we tucked into the Mushrooms on Toast while we decided on our cut of steak. The staff were ever-so-helpful in helping us navigate the vast selection (which is written with chalk on a blackboard every day for diners to choose from). We were feeling fancy, so we chose the Sirloin, and paired it with a classic peppercorn sauce, Beef Dripping Chips, Kale & Parmesan and Heritage Summer Tomatoes. The latter sides were divine for injecting a bit of freshness.
“Alongside a few-too-many glasses of red wine, we finished our meal with cheesecake – which was brilliantly served in the dish it was created in with two spoons and a napkin. (Panic not: we had ordered the last slice. Hygiene, obviously, is considered). I left feeling fat, happy and desperate to return – and convinced I'd eaten the best steak I ever would.”
Why is it the perfect romantic restaurant? “Most of the food – from the starters to the steak – are served on boards, which makes it perfect for sharing. It's fun to choose a cut of meat together from the blackboard, and if you get a sofa seat around the edge of the restaurant, you can sit close to eachother between courses.”

Best for Argentinian steak with a side of Tango
8-9 James St, London WC2E 8BT
How much will it set you back? About £100 per person with a 3 course meal and a good bottle of wine.
What’s so great about it? If you’re after a buzzy Argentinian affair that is sure to get you fired up on your date night, then make sure you head downstairs at Gaucho in Covent Garden. They serve the finest cuts of steak, all shown and explained to you before you order, and the best way to try several of them is by ordering the The Beef Bar Sampler consisting of Fillet, Sirloin and Ribeye steak marinated in spicy chimichurri, ancho in tomatillo and chorizo with juniper. But if you’d rather just have the one steak then we’d recommend the Ribeye which is salty perfection. Finish with the made-to-order cookie dough, which is the perfect sharer and to get just that little bit closer.
Why is it the perfect romantic restaurant? On Friday and Saturday nights, in between the resident DJ filling any conversational gaps, Tango dancers will treat you to an intimate performance reminiscent of a Buenos Aires Milonga. This is certain to get you in the mood for the evening ahead.

Best tasting menu
Le Dame De Pic at The Four Seasons, Ten Trinity Square
10 Trinity Square, London EC3N 4AJ
How much will it set you back? The tasting menus start at £140 per person without drinks, but the price is well worth given the level of service, food quality and ambience - we can't fault it.
What's so great about it? Chef Anne-Sophie Pic has restaurants in 11 locations across the globe wherein she exhibits her haute cuisine. The food, elevated French fare, is delicate, presented with flare and makes the most of seasonal produce. Whether you're teetotal or like a glass of wine, the drinks pairings available will complement your dishes perfectly. Think: Pentire mocktails, Coravin-extracted wines and Le Dame De Pic's specialty Champagne. Our recommendation? The specialty sweet-shaped pasta parcels with Brie, mushrooms and watercress. C'est magnifique. The ambience is calm, with a relaxing hum of conversation and the staff - from the sommelier to the maître d - will go out of their way to make you feel cared for.
Why is it the perfect romantic restaurant? As a double Michelin-starred venue, Le Dame De Pic at Ten Trinity Square is the perfect spot for a special occasion. Best for laid-back daytime date vibes

What's so great about it? Bringing laid-back Australian vibes to London, Milk Beach is a reliable go-to for a date night that delivers on flavour with attentive service and a buzzy atmosphere to boot. We loved the variety of options on the menu here, with their generous heaping of garlic prawns proving a favourite along with their hearty chicken schnitty and wonderfully fresh yellowfin tuna. Pair with one of their punchy cocktails or curated selection of wines and you’re in for a winning date.
Why is it the perfect romantic restaurant? Milk Beach is the perfect choice for a low-key date when you’re after something a little different. How much will it set you back? About £200 per person but as one of the most esteemed restaurants in London, it's worth every penny for a special occasion.
What's so great about it? Wolfgang Puck's CUT at 45 Park Lane is an absolute institution. ‘Best steak I’ve ever had,' is the collective consensus I've heard from anyone whose dined there - and they're not lying. CUT was Wolfgang’s first restaurant in Europe which opened in 2011 and has become a staple on the London dining scene. 12 years on, its impeccable reputation is still going strong. Under the helm of executive chef Elliott Grover, as the restaurant's name suggests, CUT serves up the most incredible array of steaks. From some of the world’s best Japanese Pure A5 Wagyu beef to USDA Prime Beef and a Tasting of New York Sirloin, you really can't go wrong (plus, the cuts presented to you on a board ahead of your meal makes for perfect Insta fodder). Whilst the steaks are the main attraction, that's not to say the rest of the menu isn't top notch. If meat isn't your thing, plump for the juicy Grilled Jumbo Australian Tiger Prawns with Red Chilli Jam & Green Mango Salsa or iconic Wild Mushroom Housemade Tagliatelle, Pecorino. Shaved Black Truffle (*salivating*). The sides are exceptional too - think oozing mac and cheese, a deliciously garlicky Caesar salad and crunchy onion rings served with black truffle ranch. This March, Wolfgang will be bringing his award-winning flagship restaurant, Spago, to London for an exclusive four day pop-up at 45 Park Lane - it's a Beverly Hills favourite that you won't want to miss. Trust us.
Why is it the perfect romantic restaurant? As with any establishment that's part of the Dorchester Collection, CUT is the pinnacle of elegance. With low-lighting, an extensive champagne selection and large cuts to share (we see you, Bone-In Tomahawk Steak), it's the perfect place for a luxurious date night that's sure to impress your other half.

Berners TavernBest for modern British food in an iconic setting

What's so great about it? Possibly the Capital's worst-kept secret, the dining room at Jason Atherton’s perennially popular Berners Tavern has wowed guests for years with its double-height ceilings, lavish decor and hundreds of gold-framed pictures that pepper the walls. Plus, a pretty impressive backlit bar frames the entire scene perfectly. It's the sort of vibe you might find in the country house of your long-lost rich uncle (we're still trying our best to locate one…). Food isn't the cheapest but dishes are large and hearty.
Why is it the perfect romantic restaurant? It's hard not to feel like you're living out a scene from The Great Gatsby here, and, as the man himself knows only too well, it's hard not to fall in love with that.
Nobel RotBest for candlelit corners
51 Lamb's Conduit St, London WC1N 3NB
How much will it set you back? Around £45 per person
What's so great about it? It's not pretentious, firstly, which, for a wine bar, is pretty rare. But that's just the baseline here really, the service, the staff themselves and the ‘sitting sort of on top of each other’ atmosphere that we've so missed in London, is just sublime. The wine selection is second to none and you don't even need to know anything about grapes because there is no wrong choice. Plus the food, a mix of British classics and comfort food (hello burrata and truffle spaghetti), is ideal for soaking up excess vino.
Why is it the perfect romantic restaurant? It's intimate, it's shabby-chic and its candle-lit corners provide an excellent spot for snogging (which we imagine there will be plenty of once you've worked your way through the wine list).

What's so great about it? A hidden gem in Soho might sound like an oxymoron, though if you visit 100 Wardour St you'll get what we mean. With Nobu's former head chef having brought his boldly flavourful pan-Asian dishes to 100 Wardour St until November - think tea smoked lamb chops and smoky curry duck donuts - there's truly never been a better time to book in. The delicate sashimi tacos are not to be missed, nor are the signature Freak Scene sushi rolls which come generously filled with tempura shrimp, hamachi fish and all the trimmings.
