The Hot List 2010

FirstVIEWTurquoise
Turquoise is set to be the ruling shade of 2010, according to world-renowned palette experts Pantone. Think cool and soothing like the surface of a swimming pool, turquoise is just the splash of summer that we need after the hard times of 2009.
FirstVIEWLong Plaits
Admittedly this style a bit of a fashion minefield, but this is all set to change in 2010, as seen in Alexander Wang’s spring collection. It’s goodbye square fringe, hello hot new plaits.
Forever Wei Young
Space NK is celebrating Chinese New Year 2010 with a range of eastern-inspired beauty products. The new Wei Young range is indulgent and gloriously mystical, from pomegranate buffing beads to Chinese rose foaming cleanser. Our favourite is the Tibetan Chrysanthemum correcting eye treatment pads: just pop them on for 10 minutes in the morning and you can look sixteen years old for the rest of the day (well, almost).

PA PhotosDesigner / High Street Collaborations
That beautiful marriage between high-end designs and high street prices (almost), collaborations are the demi-gods of British fashion. Once an exciting novelty, now an expectation, what does 2010 promise? Jil Sander for Uniqlo will send out some major shopping ripples, as will Sonia Rykiel’s new knitwear collection for H&M. Meanwhile Topshop are clubbing together with London-based designer Ann Sofie-Back, and no doubt Miss Moss will be sending us running for the high-street yet again.

FirstVIEWHeadscarves
The wrong headscarf will definitely give the wrong impression, but we’re thinking Marni’s spring/summer 2010 collection. Intelligent, breezy and a little bit sensual is the intended impression, so match with oversized earrings and 70s-inspired sunnies.

Woo Me?
Beautywoome.Com has rocketed in recent months and is now an essential resource for beauty products and tips. There are detailed reviews of perfumes, honest opinions of make-up brands and enviable inside knowledge. And plenty of high-end freebies, too.

Diptyque Candles
Candles are a tricky business, and it can be hard work sorting wax from ‘wicktion’. We’ve always loved Diptyque, though, and diptyque(RED) is the latest special edition candle to make it onto our must-have list. Inspired by African print, and utilising certified fair trade vanilla, 10% of each candle sold goes to TheGlobalFund which provides life-saving medication for those living with HIV in Africa. <a href=http://www.diptyqueparis.com target=_new>www.diptyqueparis.com</a> for more information.

The Selby
This spacious and springy blog, The Selby, gives insight into the homes of fashion designers and creative individuals, photographing them in their gardens or baking with their families (recipes are even included, it’s that cute!) Some of these micro-celebrities even take you around their neighbourhood, making The Selby like a dream episode of Through The Keyhole.

Wah Nails
Wah Nails are the must-have manicurists of 2010, burgeoning beyond bling to bring us eye-snatching designs that are overtly personalised. Try the Chanel transfers – they’re one of the most popular looks. New 2010 buzz phrase? “Wah-derful darling.”

FirstVIEWMaxi Dresses
We think maxi dresses are a keeper for spring/summer 2010. Sadly the über-length is a hard look to pull off if you’re vertically challenged, but the good news is that maxi dresses are great for bringing out the best of your curves while hiding those bits you don’t want to show off.
PA PhotosLidos
‘An outdoor swimming pool?!’ you scream. But bear with us – they’re beautiful, they’re fun and most of all they’re often heated. London Fields in Hackney has a fantastic lido, as do Bristol and Cambridge, and there are several others around the nation, too. Three cheers for re-discovering our European heritage.
PA PhotosSophie Theallet
Commended with a prize by the Vogue Fashion Fund at the end of last year, the impeccable designs of French talent Sophie Theallet are certain to conquer the fashion world this year. The proof? She already counts Michelle Obama amongst her magical circle of high-profile clientele.

iStockBeirut
The already swank capital of Lebanon has just benefited from a mega makeover. The rooftop pool of Le Gray will be the place to be seen in 2010, but if you can’t afford to pay the room rate to soak up the celeb atmosphere, fear not – there’s a bar and restaurant just next door.

PhoneShop
New E4 comedy series PhoneShop is being dubbed as the hit comedy series for 2010. The pilot episode, script-edited by Ricky Gervais, was so popular internally at Channel 4 that a six-episode series was commissioned before the pilot was even aired. Whether PhoneShop lives up to its hype remains to be seen – but we’re definitely going to be watching.

PA PhotosHot Lips
Forget the gloom of last year, it’s about time we started enjoying ourselves again! Rich and indulgent lipstick is what it’s all about right now, so get your hands on a deeply luscious and tantalising shade, like our faves M.A.C. in Saint Germain or Clinique Long Last Lipstick in Watermelon.
Rex FeaturesMartin Amis - The Pregnant Widow
With literary genius in his genes and books like 1984’s multi-award-winning novel Money under his belt, Martin Amis is back. Set in a 1970s castle over a long hot summer, The Pregnant Widow tells the story of Keith Naring, a 20-year old literature student who attempts to twist feminism to serve his own private agenda. Did someone just whisper bestseller?

PA PhotosLeotards
Leotards are sticking around for yet another year. After some big leotard moments from Rihanna, Lady Gaga, and Cheryl Cole in recent months - not only on the stage but walking down the high street - there’s some serious mileage in them yet.
FirstVIEWConstellation Prints
Let’s get astrological. Star and constellation prints are back for another round, and are going to be meteoric in high street stores this year, as seen at Miu Miu’s spring/summer 2010 show. Bag yours in stores soon.
Whoopie Pies
We know lots of you have already embarked on January diets, but GLAMOUR.COM has something we think might tempt you from the straight and narrow – the Whoopie Pie - an irresistible mutant cake that is part cupcake, part cookie, part doughnut and altogether reminiscent of an over-sized squidgy Oreo. We think you better try one for yourself.
Whoopie Pies are only available in the UK from Outsider Tart. Luckily for us - they do online deliveries. Make your Whoopie Pie order**here**
PA PhotosWii Fit
“Isn’t Wii, like, so 2009?” we hear you mumble over your morning coffee. Well yes, kind of, but Nintendo have introduced new products that are so 2010. Wii Fit now has tailor-made technology to personalise your workout, while pedometers are available for iPod Nanos. Never mind calorie counting, this thing tells you how vigorous you are. Clever or what?
Rex FeaturesApps
Just like iPods came to be the kings of the mp3, 2010 will see a major cultural shift in favour of iPhones, and more importantly – apps. The augmented reality apps are the most pioneering yet - one of our favourites being Car Finder, which tells you exactly where your car is parked when you’re exhausted and bag-laden after that shopping spree.
FirstVIEWFlouro
Flouro time! Just before the 90s revival kicks into full swing, there’s still some enjoyment to be had out of fluorescent outfits. It’s hard to get this flouro thing right, though, so invest in a couple of quality pieces - a neon look needs good fabrics and a brilliant fit.
Rex FeaturesDelphic
3rd place on the BBC’s Sound of 2010 list, this dark-haired Mancunian band Delphic are going to be 100% hot this year. The boys wowed crowds when they supported Bloc Party last July, and just this month The Guardian gave their debut album Acolyte a four-star review.
