Best morning cleanse routine - how a beauty editor wakes up her skin
When you cleanse in the evening, it's to remove a day's worth of makeup, sweat, pollutants and general grime. You know the best cleansers and face washes we love at GLAMOUR but how does our beauty team go about their routine?
I go the whole nine yards - eye makeup remover, cleansing balm, flannel, toner and occasional exfoliation via a light peel or microfoliant. But I've always found the idea of a morning cleanse a bit tricky. There's no makeup for starters - I don't want to unnecessarily dry my skin out, and when it's had a whole night of recovering and regenerating, I don't really want that freshly-scrubbed look either. But the truth is, a morning cleanse is SO important - not only because it'll benefit your skin, removing the cumulated sweat and oil or product from your hair (via your pillow!) but because it maximises the oh-wow potential of your makeup, too.
The difference with the arsenal of cleansers I've ended up using in the morning is the desired affect: I want something very light, plumping, moisturising and generally smoothing, rather than my all-out, deep-clean regime in the evening. I want to be left with a perfectly prepped canvas, ready for my makeup. And I want it as quickly as possible. So here's what I'm using right now.
